Try not to use diaper wipes - they can actually hurt them more then help when they are breaking out. When my kids were bad I used a warm washcloth w/ every change - even if there is no BM just pee. Personnaly, I mainly use vaseline on my kids... but when they got really bad once (from antibiotics) I spoke to the pharmacist & he gave me a pink cream in a white tube... it is something you don't need a script for, but it is behind the counter (not sure why). Sorry, it's been a while & I don't recall the name - but it just had black writing on the tube & no pics.
My sister just had her 2 1/2 yr old to the ER for diaper rash a few weeks ago... she has always used Desitin Creamy on her, but the ER doc said they changed something in it & they have about 3-5 kids a day coming in w/ bad bleeding rashes & the only thing that "connects" the kids is Desitin Creamy. She is also a baby that used cloth diapers & my sister makes them for her - so that is the only thing that it could be. My sister changed creams & it started looking better the next day.
Also, my one boy couldn't wear Huggies diapers & my daughter couldn't wear Pampers... you know how stange it looks for a mom to buy both Pampers & Huggies in the same size at the same time every week - lol. But they both broke out in rashes if they were put in the "wrong" brand of diapers... and none of mine have done good in the "cheap" ones.
My kids really didn't have much issues w/ diaper rash when they were nursing, it usually started after that. I would try cleaning her bottom more often, change the brand of diaper & see if she starts to look better - then maybe chage the cream/ointment you are using on her (unless it's the Desitine Creamy - if so I'd stop that one now).
I wish you luck - hope she clears up quick!!! And congratz on the baby!
