Okay ladies, I need to know if you have used the Debbie Meyer Green Bags? If so, what'd you think? I noticed at the store the other day that she now has the Green Bags, Cheese Bags, Bread Bags, and Cold Cut Bags. I've never talked to anyone who has used them. I think they'd be a good investment, but only if they really work.....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I think I'm gonna skip the Green Bags, too many of you say they don't work. And I didn't even think to check Consumer Reports, but we know that is reliable. Thanks for the tips!!

Hi dear...I have used them and prefer NOT to buy them again! LOL....I use the Reynolds simple and cheap storing bags with a little hand held vacumn that you can get at Fred Meyers for less than 10 dollars. I DO recommend them! Best wishes!

Consumer Reports recently reviewed these and found in their tests that they made no difference and in some cases the food rotted quicker.

My husband bought the Rubbermaid fresh vent produce saver to try to keep his sprouts longer. They have seriously lasted almost twice a long. We haven't tried anything else in it but may get a few more containers. Something to think about.

My husband bought them for us. They don't work and my fruit rotted quicker. I have used them for lettuce in the fridge but leave the fruit out of a bag to let it last longer. Good luck. I don't care for them.

I have friends who have tried the bags and they have worked for them. Personally, I cannot afford to keep replacing the bags. I found that if you just take your fruits and veggies out of the plastic bags they are in when you are grocery shopping and place them in their bins by themselves, they live a pretty long time. Also, if it's onion or bell pepper, something you might think needs to be bagged/wrapped after it's cut, would be better to leave as is in the fridge. (Of course unless you don't want the smell of onion all over everything else. ;)) Another thing that would save you money concerning the veggies/fruit...buy in bulk if you want...cut up and freeze. It works and the food is around when you need it. We purchased a Rival Seal A Meal maker. That thing is my BEST FRIEND. Works for everything! We even get the chance to freeze veggies/fruit that aren't in season anymore...so we can have them whenever we want. :D Good luck!

Consumer Reports tested them in April or May - they scored POORLY - I can't remember the specifics, but I do not recommend you buy them :)

OOPS! Hit send accidentally! Anyway, I don't throw away nearly as much produce as I used to. And they can be reused about 7 or 8 times I believe. Hope this helps.

I was going to buy them until I read an article in Consumer Reports. They tested them and they failed to live up ti their claims. In some cases the sped up the process.

Hello J.,

Well, my husband is naive about anything on television that is a 'never before seen or not available in stores' ads, and purchased the Green Bags. I can tell you that I don't particulalry like them for bananas because moisture seems to build in the bag. In addition, in our recent issue of Consumer Reports, the Green Bags are not highly rated--not surprising to me. Of course I had to let my husband know this and rub it in. Anyway, he ordered all the others and I have yet to use them, so to me it was a waste of time and money.

I've heard that don't work very well...better to just keep things in the crisper or NOT (bananas).

I bought Green Bags last week. I have cilantro in one and papayas in another. I'll let you know how they work. They've been in them since Thursday and the cilantro looks like I just bought it. The papayas seem to be ripening which is what I want.

I bought these after seeing a report on the news showing that they do work, although I didn't see the Consumer Reports report. Each bag reusable several times too, just rinse them out and dry them. The produce needs to be completely dry though.

My dad gave me some of the green bags. I don't notice any huge difference, but then produce doesn't last long in my house. I use them for things from my garden or after I wash my produce (they need to be dry though). My dad has some and has said that he really likes them and they work really well.
