DD Drew All over Her Sheets with a Black Dry Erase Marker! What Do I Do?

I would try scrubbing the marks with a magic eraser sponge. These things truly are magic. I recently got permanent sharpie off my wood table with one. I had tried everything & that eraser took it right off! Good Luck.

If you can't get the stuff out, why not give her a sharpie, put her on the grass, and let her finish the job. You help. Draw her name, your name, your family, the works. Then let her use that sheet until she thinks it's juvenile - then you can stuff it or something and make a pillow.

One thing to remember, which you are probably already aware of, is to run your sheet through the washer or rinse the damaged spot before trying a different removal method. Sometimes the chemicals react and prevent the new method from working.
Two things I've used as last resorts: 1)Tide bleach pen
2) Amway (Quixtar) Tri-zyme - an enzymatic soak that has worked for me when nothing else will. Don't remember if I've used it on permanent marker. If you don't want to buy a box of Tri-zyme now (although with small children, believe me, it is extremely useful and lasts forever as it only takes 1/4 cup or less) I would be glad to send you 1/4 cup for you to try on your sheet.
In any case, good luck. I like what one mom said about using the "art sheet" has her sheet to do projects on if the stains are indeed permanent.

Love all the responses, I need to remember to copy them. You don't say how old your daughter is; is she into drawing on other things? Is she old enough to write her name? I remember (back in the dark ages) drawing on the wall and my Mom painted over it 3 times, I kept drawing my picture in the same place until she quit and when I was through with my "phase" she then painted the wall and had no more problems. My suggestion: if you can not take out the "art work" is to have this as her sheet. Is she artistic? How can you use this to teach her? (including where not to use her abilities) Is this just a phase? You would be surprised (when she is away at college) what you wish you would have saved when she was little - and who knows, you may have a budding artist!!

My son has gotten dry erase marker in his cotton clothing several times and I always got it out with the OxyClean Stain Remover (like Shout) with no problem.

I don't know if that particular product is that good (I love it) or what, but it might be worth a try at $3 a bottle.

When my daughter gets marker on her clothes i soak her clothes for about 2 days in cold water with lots of color safe bleach. Try soaking the sheets with about 2 big cap fulls of the color safe bleach for about a day and then check it, if is has somewhat come out but not all the way let is soak longer. If you can you can use your kitchen sink or the washer to let it soak in. Good luck!!!

Use this old recipe... you've gotta get the right ingredients, but any dollar store will have it, if you don't have it at home. I use the recipe below, but I use 1/2 cup of powdered dishwasher soap and 1/2 cup of laundry powder soap.

And here is my mother's last-ditch stain remover for washable whites and colored items that can be bleached (or that you're willing to take a chance on): To 1 gallon of hot (very hot) water, add 1 cup of powdered dishwasher detergent and 1/2 cup of bleach. Let the garment soak for no longer than 30 minutes. If the stain doesn't come out in that amount of time, it probably never will.

Did you use clorox? I clorox all my sheets and stuff like that to get germies out. I add Downey to the rinse cycle so they will be soft and smell good.

Some people are against clorox but I am a huge clorox fan. Works wonders for me.

Try contacting the company that made the dry erase marker and see if they have any suggestions on how to remove the marker from the sheets. I have a friend who had a son that used a permanent marker all over her house, and her father contacted the company; they gave advice on how to remove on various surfaces/fabrics/carpet and it all came out. Try pure acetone. It won't "eat" the sheets, I have used it on cotton and carpet several times.

Try some rubbing alcohol. Pour some onto a rag and scrub the sheets really good with the rag and get enough on there that it soaks in.
It's worked for us before with removing dry erase from other surfaces but I'm not sure if it works on the sheets or not, but worth a shot.
