Daycare/Schools In Torrance/South Bay - Recommendations?

Hello all -

I will be soon looking to move to the South Bay/Torrance area from Portland OR. While here in Portland, my boys - ages 2 and 5 have been enrolled in a private Christian daycare/school and they have thrived really well. In my 2 year old's class, they actually provide curriculum appropriate for his age/interests and there's even a music class included in the tuition. My 5 year old attended their kindergarten last year and I am thinking of repeating him in kindergarten (his birthday is late October) but they were quite advanced - he learned (pretty darn well actually) how to write in cursive in addition to printing.

With all of this in mind - does anyone have good recommendations of a daycare/school in the area where my boys could continue to feel challenged (vs. a Kindercare where there is very little curriculum occurring).

Many thanks in advance!

I have both my children (2 1/2 and 4 1/2) at the children's place Montessori and we are very happy. The toddler room for children under 2 1/2 is not as stimulating so I would not recommend starting your younger child until he/she can be in the primary room. www.thechildrensplaceschool.com

my 2 year olds goes to bread of life children center (christian pre-school). And, my son went there before. They are great and they have kindergarten program and after school program for the future as well.
Btw, I had bad experience with Leap and Bound before. But, it's torrance campus... maybe, it's different. Just a thought.

My 4 year old attends Leap and Bound Academy in Redondo Beach and we love it. They have a loving, supportive and disciplined atmosphere. My daughter has been there for 2 years, just turned 4 and is writing, reading and doing addition and subtraction. They also do yoga and have music class daily. I highly recommend it.

I have heard wonderful things about Good Shepherd preschool in Torrance. I'm not sure if they have kindergarten. St. James is a Catholic elementary school in Torrance that people seem to like a lot - they would have a kindergarten for your older son and it's down the street from Good Shepherd. I want to respect what your other responder said about Leap and Bound but I have to warn you that I live down the street from this preschool and this comment is the first and only positive one I've ever heard about the school. I did a fairly exhaustive search of preschools for my own son and asked several school psychologist and teacher friends about schools in the area. Without even asking about Leap and Bound several of the people said "just make sure you don't send him there." I will admit I have no personal experience there and is probably fine for some kids - it's been open for a while. But it does not have a good reputation. Send me a message if you'd like to chat further about what i've learned about schools in the area - I can give you more information.
