K.Q.
I have been there with the fundraising since my kids were young. I think it's crazy too. But I've never had anyone tell me I had to sell anything, much less 10 boxes. That is crazy. If u want to sell some do, but I wouldnt guareentee 10 boxes.
Are there any other parents out there that have their child in daycare and have been told to fundraise by selling cookies? My daughter's daycare has recently told us we have to sell 10 boxes for our childs fundraiser, but not one word has been uttered about what they are fundraising for, or if the money that we do bring will go directly to our daughter's class. She's only 18 months and this seems a little odd, sice I didn't start this until I was in highschool. Is this normal?

I dont think it's unusual for daycares to have fundraisers, but it is odd not to be told where the money will go. My daycare is doing a huge drive right now for the March of Dimes (they are doing a walk they want parents to sponsor, selling cheesecakes, ribbons for cars, etc). I personally wouldnt involve myself in the fundraiser unless you are given more specific information of what the money goes towards.
I've never heard of the kids actually doing it, but I do know that the daycare I send my kids too is doing fundraising themselves. For instance, they are selling stars for $1 and having a pizza and movie party on a Friday night for $15. All proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
this is very normal. fundraising starts and preschool. Every school I have worked at or come in contact with had a fundraiser. It is a necessary part of the budget as other grant sources continue to dwindle. There is nothing fishy about it.
Just dollars and cents.
