I use a 50/50 white vinegar & dish soap mix in a spray bottle. for my bathroom surfaces.
Vinegar and baking soda react spectacularly. Don't mix them in a container! There is no need to add lemon juice to vinegar unless you want it as a scent. It won't change the cleaning properties.
i mostly use full strength vinegar for cleaning. when i am cleaning the shower its equal parts of vinegar and dish soap (not always dawn)
for the tile floors i use 1 gal of hot water, 1 cup vineagr and 1 drop of dishsoap.
for the bamboo i use 1 quart of hot water and 1 tbsp rubbing alcohol
for the laminate i use glass cleaner
for the greasy stove i use hot water and dish soap and rinse with vinegar.
for stinky laundry i add vinegar to the rinse cycle.
so i guess vinegar is my favorite cleaner for most every cleaning task. oh and i spray down the doggie blankies and carpets once a week to get rid of that wet dog stink
What are you using it for? Is this for the shower?
I assume you are keeping the baking soda to a minimum and that you let everyone know that the combination causes immediate and extensive foaming! Definitely need to hold over the tub or sink!
I see these things promoted all the time on FB and so on. I've always wondered why it has to be Dawn. I don't think these things are promoted by the company, are they? (Sort of like the Vicks remedies that are disavowed by the Vicks company!). I've seen Dawn, vinegar & epsom salts promoted as a weed killer (a small amount of detergent is supposed to help the mixture cling to the leaves of the dandelions and other weeds).
In general, I think using ordinary and natural household items instead of chemical or just more expensive cleaners is a great idea. I'm big on vinegar and baking soda, but not together except as a drain cleaner. I'll be interested to hear other people's experiences.
I use 1/4 or less of vinegar with one drop of liquid dish detergent in a dish to get rid of those irritating fruit flies. They are attracted to the cider. The soap traps them.
Why do you put in baking soda? Remember the volcano we built with vinegar and soda?
I use baking soda on a damp cloth to scour stains on counter tops, dried on food on the range top, stains on stainless steel. It works to cut the film on stainless steel sinks.
Perhaps adding lemon to baking soda would provide a clean smell.
