Try a vinegar and water solution. Sometimes, if the stain is really difficult, you can use some baking soda and water first(form a paste), rub it in, rinse with water, then wipe with the vinegar and water so it shines... Hope that helps.
I have a number of stainless steel serving pieces, and have no idea how to keep them from getting spotty. I've washed them & towel dried, but there are still some water spots, streaks & some areas where it just looks like there is residue. I've tried a soft cloth with a drop of olive oil, but the stains are still there. Any other ideas? I'm hoping there are some natural solutions to avoid buying stainless steel cleaner, but I'll buy it as a last resort, if there's nothing else I can do.
Thanks!

Hi,
There is now a product on sale to clean stainless steel.
You can find it at Target or Wal-Mart. It’s in the cleaning
detergent department.
Hi, Hannafords is selling a new product called ECOCLOTH. It is Awesome and you only use warm water to clean with...you read right, no harsh chemicals, no soap, nothing but water. To clean the cloth, it is actually best to boil it. It works great on every surface from my Corian Counter top to my stainless steel pots and pans and appliances. The cleaning cloth sells for $7.99 and the kitchen pack (cleaning and glass/polishing cloth) sells for $13.99. I use the glass cloth to clean my windows and mirrors all the time and it never shows any streaks.... I love it and would reccommend this product to everyone I know!
Hi...I've heard Orange Pledge works wonders on stainless appliances, not sure if you would want to eat off of something that's been Pledged, though..
Barkeepers Friend works great. It removes the haze, blue residue and rust. Just wash it off with dish soap after you use it.
Have you tried baby oil? That sometimes works.
Stainless steel bites!!! You may just have to get the cleaner. I got rid of my stuff. Way to much work for a busy mom. Good luck!
I polish my serving pieces regularly. I use the silver serving cleaner from the cleaning aisle at the grocery store. It is a small round tub that is usually blue. I use a soft cloth and small amount of water and the cleaner (looks like crisco) and polish my silver. It shines them up beautifully and leaves no dark spots. I also use it on my everyday silverware.
Hope this helps!
Hi K. - you may want to try a cleaning cloth (though they're for sterling)... That might work.
Otherwise, there is also a wonderful, natural, cleaner from Melaleuca that might work. I'm happy to get some for you if you'd like (they have a whole line of nautral cleaning stuff -for you, for your body, for your house, etc...) Let me know if you'd like more info. I can get it for you at my price too!
try to burnish the flatware with vinegar. used to do that when i work as a waitress. (you can dilute the vinegar!) the smell dissipates!
My stepmother swears by a sheet of zinc and some dishwashing powder. There is a similar product sold on QVC. My mother uses it and all you need to do is leave the item in the bowl for a few seconds making contact with the metal. Let the chemistry work for you!

Hi K.,
The spots are from hard water. They will come off with some vinegar. You can make a "soak" for them by mixing water with vinegar in a 3:1 ratio of water to vinegar. This is approximate. If it doesn't rub off after about 10 minutes of soaking, add baking soda to the mix. It will bubble but it will help to take off the spots. It won't hurt the stainless steel. I clean our stainless steel all the time this way.
I hope this helps!

Hi K., I do Marketing for Melaleuca and they recommend using their tooth polish...it doesn't have the harsh chemicals traditional brands do so it's safe to use! Any of their products would be great to try as they are better/safer and work fabulously! :)
Hi K.~
Do you have hard water? Sounds like it might be lime scale. Try a solution of hot vinegar and water with a little bit of baking soda sprinkled on a soft cloth. About 1/2 and 1/2 with the water and vinegar. Scrub the spots and they should disappear. If they are really tough soak them in the vinegar and water and then towel dry.
Good Luck!
I am a big fan of Bon Ami, just a little bit on sponge should do the trick. It is a pretty natural product and it's motto of "hasn't scratched yet" seems appropriate to me. I don't know how to prevent the spots in the first place, maybe your water is hard and the spots are mineral deposits?
Hi K., I use Shaklee's nontoxic "Scour Off" on my stainless steel sink and on my stainless steel coffee maker with great results. It is a heavy-duty paste, but since it is non-toxic, it is safe for you, safe for your home and safe for our planet. It only takes a little bit to do a big job - rub a little on - then rinse off with a cloth & water - then dry. You can check this product out at my website - emilytaft.com I am a Shaklee distributor and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this or any other products. Please contact me at ____@____.com or ###-###-####. You can order directly through my website, or I can order for you -- whichever works for you. Looking forward to chatting with you. E. Taft
