My DD would take off her diaper whenever she was even a little bit wet no matter what time. I would check that too.
Anyone have any advice on how to keep my 18 mo-old from getting undressed and taking her diaper off at nap time. She doesn't do this any other time. It seems like a defiant act - a way of getting out of bed when she doesn't want to nap (even though she can't see straight from being so sleepy).

Put a zippered sleeper on her backwards. I've yet to meet a kid that could unzip something on their back :)
Don't fight it. Put a mattress cover on her bed and calmly clean up any mess. This happened with my daughter and the bigger deal I made about it the more she protested. Eventually she stopped doing it because no one wants to sleep in a wet bed...
Remember it's just a phase. Also, you might consider starting to potty train...this could be an early sign of readiness.
Good luck!
Totally normal phase. I know....not what you want to hear. Sorry
My daughter does this if she has the shirt and diaper on her. If i put her in onsie, she is not able to get to the buttons and hence help keep the diaper also in place.
Maybe this will help you too!!
My granddaughter does that as well (19 months). Either the onesie or the shorts deter her a bit at least.
