Daughter Injured at Girl Scout Outing

I am glad to hear your daughter is alright, and I would make sure to speak with her troop leader regarding supervision at future events. Yes, accidents do happen even under the best of supervision, but you also want to know that your daughter will be safe.

Case in point, I was a chaperone at our council's annual dance for the girl scouts last year and was shocked at the "craziness" going on there. Girls were running wild, one girl even got her teeth knocked out b/c she collided with another girl. All the moms and leaders just stood around until finally there was an announcement made AFTER the accident that there was to be no running. I am not letting my girls go this year.

And as for your response from KK, you are absolutely rude to say such a thing. You have got it backwards sister, it is oblivious parents such as yourself that maintain a "kids will be kids" attitude and children DO get hurt.

I am sorry you daughter got hurt. With the signing of that liabilty slip unless you or the adult responsible could say that the equipment was not in good functioning order and that it was something other than what was supposed to be there like a piece of cloth tied between springs instead of an inflatable bouncy that this was an accident. If your health insurance thinks they are not responsible if given the correct insurance information they will usually hammer it out for copabilty of bills,otherwise this is an unfortunate accident, You can call girl scouts and ask about the insurance policy as long as you have your dues up to date but I am thinking it may not be applicable in this case. On scout outings make sure you volunteer to help supervision by staying as the parents are volunteers and not babysitters and usually get dumped on by parents as the hit and run parent. Scouting is supposed to be a good family experience.

Hi V., I hope your daughter is okay. I am a leader and this is also a leaders nightmare. If this was a girlscout outing your leader should have had insurance thru your GS Council. She should have notified council of the accident right away so they can cover the medical expenses. Contact the your girl scout council and they can help answer your questions and help pay medical. I don't know what you have done since I am reading this days later than the post but thought I would offer some information to you as that I am a Leader & have to agree with another post this is a Leader's nightmare come true. I would go the girl scout website just google girls scouts and find your area & there are contact numbers for your specific council. If you happen to be in the Joliet area here is one number for council that might help ###-###-####. I am glad your daughter is ok, lucky for us parents they bounce (perhaps bad choice of words) better than we do and as a parent that has been a hard thing to watch as that my daughter is like a bull in china shop bruised from tail to stern!
