J.,
I would contact La Leche League. www.llli.org in your area. The women are sure to have your answer and support for you.

Give it a few days, it will stop...pump a little tiny bit, just to let down if you can or let it down in the warm shower
I'm another weird one but I second the cabbage idea. I did it after both of my children and it is heaven! Almost instantly it takes away that pain/pressure feeling and helps you get through. When you get the cabbage home, peel off the first leaves and just throw those away. Take a few leaves, wash them and dry them and then roll a rolling pin (or a drinking glass) over them to break some of the veins in the cabbage. Put the cabbage right into your bra and you should notice some relief almost instantly! Keep the cabbage in the fridge as it feels even better when it's cold.
I was skeptical when I had first heard about this idea when I was pregnant for my first child but once that pain/pressure feeling set in - I sent someone immediately to the grocery store!!! For my second child, I had it on hand, ready to go!
I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon!

I hear you! When mine were drying up I was in sooo much PAIN. Lucky you if they don't hurt, but they may start so don't be surprised. You have to put COLD compacts on your breasts. Whatever you do, DO NOT put your breasts under the warm shower water. Heat makes them produce more. Good luck and congrats to you for being able to do it for so long. It's big accomplishment you should be proud of.
this will probably be the weirdest thing you will ever read, but i'm 100% serious. buy a cabbage and peel the leafs, and put one over each boob. i don't know why, but the leaves seem to suck the milk right out of ya, and you'll stop producing milk in 1 or 2 weeks. i never tried it, but i had a friend who did it, her mother swore by it, her granmother swore by it, and i've seen it pop up a few times here on mamas.
and just so you know, my son has been weened for 2 years, and i still lactate sometimes. some moms take up to 4 or more for it to go completely away. good luck, i hope this helps.
Parsley and sage will both help dry your milk supply. Eat it or drink it as part of a tea blend. I'm intrigued by the suggestion to use cabbage. Raw cabbage directly effects the thyroid by inhibiting its function, so its use in this case actually makes sense.
Hi J.,
When my daughter weaned, a couple of girlfriends who had gone through it told me to put cabbage leaves in my bra. Something about them helps ease the pressure and reduce the milk supply? It was really stinky, but it did help. I was going through it in hot weather so I put them in cold, but as is works fine too. Just leave them in there for a few hours and replace them as needed.

You can try taking Sudafed (not sure if the new formulation works, but the old one did). There's something in there that helps decrease milk production. Good luck. It should pass soon.
If they start to hurt you can pump a little out, but not too much because that will start the over production again. For me I let my son (after over 24 hours of not nursing) nurse one last time because my boobs were so full, and then after that it was like my body knew not to produce more milk.
Hello there J., R. here, I can relate to the full breast dilemma, when i was breast feeding i enjoyed all of the benefits that would come with the experience, and when it came time to ween, i was in trouble i produced a boat load of milk which was great when serving the purpose but painful and full when i stopped, there are a few things you can do, not sure if your an at home mom, but none the less when you leave the hospital and your unfortunately not going to breast feed, they bind your breast's with stretchable gauze or ace bandages to stop the milk from producing, in essence what happens is your milk ducts are compressed and Hence your milk production slows to a stop eventually, as well you can double that up with letting the milk run out in the shower under a pressure setting and aiding the milk release either way good look to you and you should be milk less in no time lol ~R.~
