Based upon what I heard, and knowing nothing about why she went on this rant, she doesn't seem like a person who should be coaching young people. I was a cheerleader all the way through college and then professionally (NFL), and I never ran across a coach who acted like this, thankfully. You need to understand that cheerleaders are athletes. This is not the pom squad of your mother's era.
My guess is that it's been a long while since you have seen what cheerleaders do, but these girls work hard, do dangerous stuff, and pound for pound are usually stronger than the football players they cheer for. To give you an idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXWzyKiiW7k&feature=re...
In order to pull off the stunts you see in the video above, the cheerleaders have to be a team. You have to trust your teammates without reservation - and that trust is only gained through hours and hours and hours of practice. Falling down, getting back up again. Over and over. If you're prissy, you pretty much get washed out before you make it out of Pop Warner Cheer.
So no, I have no idea what the cheerleaders at this high school are like, but I can tell you this much. With a coach like that, they aren't going to be any good. That kind of environment doesn't foster trust and teamwork, which is what you need to succeed in cheer. No matter what they may have said or done, they are kids who need a coach who will respect them as female athletes and encourage them to succeed. Are good coaches always nice? No. But they ARE always respectful of their athletes.
