My 11 mo old daughter cries everytime I change her diaper. She used to cry if I didn't do it fast enough. what gives? Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?

What can I do next?

Sounds like she just doesn't want to slow down and miss something! All of my kids have gone through that around the same age, they are just such busy little people! Do you have a really cool small toy that you can leave on the diaper changer for her to play with while you change her?

Yes, I've had that problem with my 13 month old son. He started that around 10months. I think its b/c they are so mobile at that age and can't stand to be still for even a second. Sometimes If I give him something like the diaper rash cream to hold he is okay and then other times it doesn't matter what I give him he just doesn't want to lay down and get changed. I'm afraid its just something we have to get through and there isn't much you can do about it.

Wow, cool! I'm a 29 yr old SAHM with a 11 month old daughter too, how funny! Anyway, my daughter does that sometimes too, I just give her a toy, diaper, rash cream, SOMETHING to keep her occupied while I change her diaper and it usually works! I think its because they hate being "tied" down......they want to be on the move. Try to distract her by giving her something or sometimes I would even sing to her and make funny noises, that works too! Well, you've probably tried all that, but just in case you haven't, hopefully they may work!

Good luck and take care!

With my son i made it seem fun to change his diaper. I would make up a silly jingle about having his diaper changed, He really enjoyed it. also My mom would give him like a toy or something he would not usually play with just to keep him focused on something else. Now we are potty training haha How fun!! Well good luck.

Hi M.,
My son never liked having his diaper changed until I started telling him stories. I would tell him nursery rymes or I would just make up stories and he would lay there perfectly still until I was done. Now he's potty trained and he asks me to tell him stories while he's going potty!
Good luck!
Jen

M., my daughter is 13 1/2 months and she does the same thing, and has since I had her. I try to give her something she can hold to keep her occupied but if that doesn't work then I just change her as I would any diaper. I don't rush because I figure she has to learn that her diaper needs changing and she can get up and move around as soon as I'm done.

Hi M. - my son did the same exact thing. He cried at every diaper change (he did that since birth). I found it was helpful to give him a little toy to hold onto because all he really wanted to do was get down & play. They just want to be on the move :)
