I was wondering if anyone has an experience with Cricket. We are thinking of switching because of the price difference for us. I also want to know if anyone has used a flashed phone from Verizon or sprint on cricket and been able to use the web and picture messaging?

My husband has used Cricket for over 2 years now for his business and has never had problems. He also has internet access and the ability to send pictures.
You need to make sure that any area you frequent is in their coverage area. That's the one big drawback for Cricket. Other than that, it's a good localized plan because absolutely EVERYTHING in whichever plan you pick is unlimited. There are no hidden extra charges. In fact, there are no extra charges at all unless you request them and pay for them up front. You would need to remember this if travelling outside your coverage area. I'm not sure how much advance notice they need to extend your coverage area so that would be something to discuss with the Crickett rep you talk with.

My husband has a Cricket phone and for the most part it works good. There are several spots in Katy and West Houston where there is no coverage. There are also a lot of places in Texas where it's roaming (when we travel). If you can live with that, then I guess it's OK. He doesn't have web access on his phone, but he is able to send and receive picture messages. That usually works fine. The one thing I hate about his phone is that there is no answering service so you can't leave a message. But I'm sure you could get a better (and more expensive) plan which includes answering services.

My brother signed up with Cricket about a year ago - loves the service and the price.

He has a Blackberry and uses it for everything - phone, vmail, email, pictures, movies, appts, etc, etc, etc.

I have three children with cricket and have had no problem. Actually their service is better then mine with sprint and its cheaper. When My contract is up I am switching to Cricket also. We have several flashed phones and they seem to work fine. We also use Crickets internet service and it is great. Never had a problem with it either.

My hubby had Cricket but the call coverage area wasn't the best or the widest. We now use Net10 which has a great coverage w/some other options, just depends on the phone you choose. Cricket does offer things now which they hadn't before, when my hubby used them, that Net10 may not offer but just depends on what you're wanting or needing. He liked them at the time but the coverage just wasn't the greatest he says. It may be different now but we really haven't checked back w/Cricket since going w/Net10. Good luck!!

A colleague of mine has cricket and it works good here in Austin but never when we travel out of state even though though it's supposed to. So I would check that out if you travel. But local has been fine. (a funny note: when we are away and she realizes her phone isn't working and gets frustrated, I make a cricket chirping "rrreee rrreee rrreee" sound and we laugh : )
