I am shopping for a convertible crib. Any suggestions? I'm tempted to go with the Da Vinci cribs that are sold through Amazon. They got great reviews, as far as construction and durability, but everyone says that the paint chips very easily. Looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance.

I'm due in mid-August and I'm sooo happy with our baby furniture we ordered. I can't believe I found it at JCPenney! http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?GrpTyp=ENS&Item...
We got the whole set. The crib is a convertible. The whole set was a great price, high quality and very stylish. We got black but I believe it comes in other colors. We received our order 3 days later too! It was packaged really well so the odds of scratches, etc are pretty low.
Good luck!

I bought the Simplicity Ellis 4 in 1 crib. I LOVE it. Its a great construction at a middle of the road price. Assembly wasnt bad at all either. I got it in black, but it also comes in like 4 other colors. BAbies r us online carries it, as does Target, and I believe Walmart.

We bought a Bonavita convertable crib. Like the Ragazzi, they're a little pricey, but well worth the money. Whenever I go into Babies R Us I give the cribs a little shake to see how sturdy they are and I feel as if the crib will fall apart. When I shake our crib, it's not going anywhere. Good luck in your search.

We have a Munire convertible crib for my son and so far it has been great. Not too hard to assemble, it looks great, and it's made from solid hardwood, which means that it is very strong and not easily scratched. Here is the one we purchased. http://www.munirefurniture.com/essex_03.htm
DaVinci cribs are generally made of pine, a soft wood, which is why they scratch easily.

Mom, I went with a wood colored crib, no paint to chip off

and then purchased a toddler bed,

I felt it was safer, in case they fell out of bed,
and it has worked out well for me.

I don't know of a good one, but definately don't buy the Simplicity. The one I have is the one that has a dresser/changing table attached to the side. The side of the crib is hard to put down. You are supposed to push in the bottom with your leg, and the first few months it works fine, but now it's hard. I haven't even gotten to point of converting to the daybed/toddler bed part.

We purchased 2 Da Vinci Anastasia cribs through Amazon (for twins). We haven't used them yet but have assembled one of them, and it looks really nice. The other one unfortunately arrived damaged, so we're waiting for a replacement.
