Hi L.,
I don't have kids, so I don't know what to say about your idea. Would be happpy to contribute to you effort, however. Let me know how to do that.

First off.. I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING HERE ON MAMASOURCE... That said.. this is where I need help. I've commited to a really great thing, the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. I'm not from this area and therefore don't know many people outside of the few mommies I hang with. SOOOO I need some creative ideas to help raise the $1800 I need to participate... It is an amazing cause and I am SO willing to schlep about, sew, bake.. do anything that will help.. I just need some NEW ideas... I have one that I'd like your feedback on. I'm a childcare provider and was thinking of auctioning or raffeling off a mom & dad gift basket for two that would include a voucher for an evening of childcare.. Now I know I'd go for that but I'm not sure if others would and would like to get some feedback before I rush out to the print store and spend a bunch on ticket printing. THANKS.. and again.. NOT SELLING ANYTHING!

Have you ever heard of Quarter Auctions? I am envolved in a group of ten different home-bases business consultants that does one every 3 months. Our first one,two years ago, was for the Avon walk and we raised $5oo then. They are a lot of fun and we always do a fundraiser round. We raise anywhere from $300 to $1000. If you want more information you can check out my website at www.pamperedchef.biz/wendysears or contact me and I can help you get one started. As for your basket idea, I think it is a cute idea. You might want to ask some of your parents if they will be references for you and put their info in the basket. Good Luck
You might try soliciting some local businesses to donate goods and/or services, then either raffle them off or hold a silent auction. You could also work with home-based business consultants, such as Longaberger, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Mary Kay, etc. to organize a bingo. This would take a lot of legwork on your part, but you could clear more than enough to cover your obligation.
Have you asked EVERYONE you know to pledge a contribution? Ask all your day-care parents, your husband's co-workers, neighbors, people at your church, etc. Then, ask each of them to ask someone to contribute.
Also, check with businesses to see if they'll help out. Chick-Fil-A does a lot of community service work. They'll designate a night where a percentage of the sales is donated to the charity. You have to hand out postcards to everyone, and they take them in and turn them in when they order. Other restaurants will have a special night where a percentage of sales is donated. My daughter's high school just had one with Applebee's last week. I went to dinner one night at Smokey Bones, and it was a similar deal.
Cold Stone Creamery will let you and your friends come in and work behind the counter for a few hours, and a percentage of sales is donated to you.
Just a few suggestions. Believe me, with a daughter who does cheerleading, I've done it all!
