Crayon Out of Carpet

Try a paper sack over top of the crayon and a warm iron. Iron over the sack, moving it to clean areas as the wax melts onto the paper. Once it's just the ink, work on the stain. I used this method for a candle and it worked perfectly (royal blue candle, beige carpet). I then steam cleaned the carpet. Should work well.
If it doesn't call a carpet cleaning company, they may have an idea.

For my carpet, I put wax paper over the spot(wax side down) and went over it with a warm iron. It made the crayon waxy again and most of it came right up. Then all was left was residue that came up with carpet cleaner. Call your local carpet store and see what suggestions they give you.

I'd consider calling the dry cleaners. They sometimes have a person they send to your home.

De-Solv-it from WalMart removed red candle wax from light gray carpet for me. It says it removes crayon also. If it works as well as it did for the large amount of red wax on my carpet, it's worth considering. It smells really good and isn't abrasive. You could try putting crayon a rag and testing it.

I always put a paper towel over the crayon- and then use a DRY hot iron setting. If you use a steam setting, it will set the crayon in. The paper towel will soak up the wax. Then throw it away- repeat until no wax/oil shows on the paper towel- then just clean with a carpet cleaner. I use Folex carpet cleaner and it gets pretty much everything out of carpet or upholstery!

Dear A M, I have this cleaner called E-Z CLEAN. It is an all purpose cleaner. The lable reads it is USDA Approved. The back of the lable lists carpets and crayon marks along with other things. Do not have first hand knowledge of crayon marks on carpet but I know it works great on cat issues and food stains on baby things I need to launder. It is not sold in stores. It is sold by Crowder Sales Company here in Wichita. I use it for my day care needs. Their number is ###-###-####. Other then that. Check to see if the crayon box has cleaning guide lines on it. You might try WD40, as I know this does work on lipstick on clothes, as well on lipstick that has gone through the dryer and on clothes, or you might call the retail manufacter for that type of carpet and see what their recommendations are for getting rid of stains etc. L. F.

call crayola, they give great advice. if for some reason you are not sucessful, try motsenbocker's liftoff tape remover. it also lifts off crayon, etc. i found this at walmart. home deopt also carries the entire line, which is wonderful! good luck!

I have 3 kids of my own and had expreience as a daycare provider...I swear by GooGone...it is a yellow liquid that takes crayon out of anything...and best of all you can buy it at walmart!

I agree with the wax paper and iron combo suggestion. I was in a sorority and we had candlelight ceremonies several times a year resulting in wax on the carpet. We cleaned it up with this method and it worked well. Of course, that's for white wax - but the suggestions below sound like they would work if there's color left. Good luck!

Sponge
Paper towels
Dull knife or metal spoon

Scrape excess crayon off with a dull-edge knife or metal spoon. Spray with WD-40 and let stand a few minutes. With a small, stiff bristle brush work crayon stain and wipe with paper towels. Respray with WD-40 and apply liquid dishwashing detergent on the sprayed area; work in with the brush and wipe stain away with a damp sponge. If stain remains, repeat the procedure. I have used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on severalstains on my carpet with great results, but I've never tried it on crayon. If it were my carpet, I would try it. Good luck!
