So What Happened?

Thank you to all for the responses. I have tried almost everything you ladies mentioned. I used the olive oil, used the a & D ointment, and used baby oil. I almost used dandruff shampoo on him, but I was just so nervous about getting soap in his eyes, so I didn't use it. All of the treatments above helped but I think the main thing that helped was using a soft brush on his head while I was shampooing his hair. That really seemed to help.
The cradle cap is not completely gone yet, but it is 99% better than what it was. I am still using the baby oil.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!

Robyn,

Both of my kids had a little cradle cap and I was told to use olive oil on it. You gently rub it on the area. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then use a cradle cap brush and gently loosen the flakes. Then you want to wash it with a gentle baby shampoo. Do this a for a few days and it should clear up. If it is really bad you can also use Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo. My pediatrician recommended it. Just make sure not to get it in the eyes. Hope that helps.

I have to agree with the 3 people below...be patient, use the oil, also keep the head moisturized...and also you can use selson blue..that is what my doc gave me also...but basically it clears up after a few months completly...has something with the baby producing too much oil ...i know then why use oil...not sure but it works...any scientist moms out there that can tell us why that works.

it is about all you can use. I like the Burts Bees oil. It smells so nice and it does a good job too. You just have to be patient with the cradle cap

Robyn,

One of my friends has a son who had terrible, gross cradle cap. Her babysitter slathered his head with A&D ointment (diaper rash cream, the yellow one, not the white) let it sit and then washed it out. Cradle cap was gone. It has come back twice since then but not nearly as bad and she did the A&D ointment thing again and cleared it up.
