Hi! My Daughter just got over Coxsackie last month. She started in with the fever on a Friday, a rash with some blisters on Saturday, Sunday was the worst as she would not eat or drink anything (we actually had to force feed her with a medicine syringe)Then Monday she slowly started to recover and by that Wednesday she was fine, just a few splotches but nothing serious and she was eating well again. Neither my husband nor my self, or my parents (as we were living with them at the time) caught the virus but I think my brother did. He had the blisters, soreness, and a sore throat so he went to the doctors but because it is a childhood disease I think they passed it off as an allergic reaction.....but really, he's not allergic to anything! I am still very convinced that he had the virus and the doctor was clueless. He came down with these symptoms around 6-7 days after she was better and the incubation period can be that long, 3 to 6-7 days. I've heard though that once you've had Coxsackie, it is like chicken pox's and you build an immunity to it. So the good news is you probably won't pass it back to your son the bad news is that you could pass it to your husband or other family members. And this is gross, but something to keep in mind, the virus will still be in his poo for a month after the virus seems to be gone. My girlfriend, who works for Sitrin, did research on the virus when my daughter had Coxsackie. She works with the elderly and is around my daughter lots, so she researched Coxsackie to know more on how to keep the Sitrin residents from getting it from her. Coxsackie can be fatal in some cases, to an elderly person. Hope this helped!
