always great for kids...pigs in a blanket. They are perfect served at room temperature. If you can't find mini hot dogs, just use bun-length and cut them each into 4 pieces. (I prefer to use Nathan's with kids because they are skinless.) Get a couple tubes of crescent roll dough and cut each triangle in half, wrap the hot dogs. I bake them for about the alloted time indicated in the crescent rolls, maybe just a minute or 2 more, since the hot dogs are already cooked. I would bring some ketchup and mustard and put them into bowls for dipping. I nice and easy finger food for kids and adults!

I love this recipe for taking places, you can easily double it for bigger parties and people can pick out the stuff they dont like, kids love the pasta. I make it with rotini. sometimes with tuna instead of chicken.

Bacon-Ranch Chicken Salad
Ingredients:
1 lb penne, bow ties, or favorite pasta, cooked, rinsed with cold water & drained
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups steamed broccoli
1 13-oz can chicken white meat, drained
1/3 cup sweet onion, diced
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup bacon-ranch dressing
8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

Method
In a large bowl place cooled pasta, olive oil, and salt & pepper to taste. Mix together and add rest of ingredients, except bacon. Mix well; cover and chill until ready to serve. Add bacon just before serving.

If you can take a dessert then a pie or cake would be good. If it can be refrigerated until it is served there is always cole slaw or potato salad.
Otherwise a nice sweet potato casserole or candied yans would be good.

2 years old through 5 years old, and cold. That is not that easy. I would do a fruit or veggie tray. The schools are really pushing healthy food, and not being able to heat it is a big issue. If your kids have a specifif fruit or vegetable I would take just that. Celery and peanut butter with raisins. I love those pre cut apples. Include them in what healthy snack they want to bring. They may have a favorite picnic snack. What would you put in your cooler to take to the beach or park?

Hi T.. A cold fruit dish would probably be ideal. Most little ones like fruit. Maybe a mandarin orange salad? It's simply canned mandarin oranges, canned pineapple tid bits (or just cut pineapple chunks into smaller pieces), miniature marshmallows, flaked coconut, pecans (For two year olds, you may want to skip the pecans.) Drain all the fruits well, and mix it all together with Cool Whip. You can make it any size you want to. The contest sounds like such fun for the little kids! G. Mary
