My husband has been asking me to try and use more coupons. I don't really know where to start except for the little coupons they give you when you check out at the grocery store. What are some good couponing websites? Thanks!

I get a majority of my coupons from the Sunday paper. There is a free subscription you can get to the Denver POst that just has the coupons and ad section- and it's free. I will use coupons very occasionally, but I am a huge fan of store brand products. I found that you get better deals on them even when using coupons on regular products.

Tell your husband that often, the store-brand is cheaper than the real brand with a coupon. Coupons are good (sunday paper is all I use) ONLY if you don't use them to do your shopping. I only clip coupons for the things I ALREADY buy. So consider that when you start clipping.

Your local Sunday paper has them almost every Sunday. I like Coupons.com, Redplum.com and smartsource.com. If you have FB and like pages of different products they also offer really good (normally) coupons.

Well I get coupons all over the place. Many websites have coupons on them. Like kellogs sometimes has coupons on it's website. You just print them out. Just go to the websites of the products you buy and look. It can't hurt.

I love coupons!! I use hip2save.com, coupon.com and target.com. Target will let you use a manufacturer coupon along with their coupon. This week I got toothpaste, a Revlon manicure set, Revlon emery boards and a loaf of bread for free. All things that I will use. I saved $2.00 today on cat litter that I use. My point is it is not for only processed and/or junk food. Hip2save is a great site to get you started. Oh a couple weeks ago I got a pair of free jeans!!!

I've tried couponing, but find that the coupons offered are for things I can buy cheaper in another brand or and off-brand.

Really it ends up being a huge pain in the butt...because I don't need 10 boxes of Hamburger Helper or a sugary drink isn't healthy for my kids....

I JUST watched extreme couponing. It was the second time I'd seen the show. The lady bought 300 cans of soda, frozen pizza and candy. Her original bill would have been $484 but she paid $29.16. I don't watch this show regularly and this is only the second time I've seen it.

I believe JessinTexas, I've found the store brand to be cheaper than the brand with the coupon many times. Also, here there aren't stores that will allow you to use more than one coupon per item or allow you to take more than the price of the item. We do eat an ocassional frozen pizza but don't buy soda and are not big candy eaters. That's not to say I don't have a stash of dark chocolate....just not the 26 bags she had ;-).

I'd say use the ones you CAN use and check into online coupons. Some stores make it easy to add the coupon to your store card. There are also websites....MoneysavingMom and here in Northern CA we have a consumer blog that offers coupons and free stuff on Fridays. I won't get a coupon or anything free just because it's free. If I won't use it I don't get it. Good luck, looking forward to the answers you get.

Get newspapers on Sunday. They have coupon pullouts in them for all kinds of things. Then go to the internet and go to the grocery stores and try to find all of the store sales that match up with your coupons. You can usually see their weekly flier on line at their website. Find out if any stores in your area have double coupon days. They give you double what the coupon is worth.

Make a list of what you are getting at each store and then pick a day to go get it all at one time.

Plan your meals around what is onsale. Don't get to brand loyal. There are some things I won't compromise, but not many. Peanut butter is peanut butter.

I use southernsavers.com, but not sure this site would work for you in CO. I'm sure there are some that focus on your area's grocery stores. The big thing with maximizing your savings is to only buy things that are on sale. Never pay full price for anything! Most everything (with the exception of milk) goes on sale in 6 week cycles. Combine the sales with a coupon, and even a buy one get one free deal and you're saving a lot. Good luck!

right now as I type this Im taping "extreme couponing". However, I don't use coupons and never will! Lol!!! I heard that these women pay very little for groceries but end up buying TONS of stuff they have to store. So what's the point? But I want to see the show because I've heard of this.

Anyway, I pay very little for groceries because I ONLY buy items on sale or clearance. For example, I went to order cup cakes for my daughters bday on Monday and as I was walking by the meat dept I noticed ribs on clearance, $5 for a box of bbq ribs, normally $12.99!! So guess what we had for dinner that night? I tend to buy the same things so I just go up and down the isles and look to see if my normal items are on sale for 10 for $10 and if so I will get them knowing that we will eat them. And the store I go to uses florescent orange clearance tags so I look for them too.

So I know that wasn't your question but I tried coupons and was always either forgetting them when I ended up at the store, or not using the ones I had, or they would expire before I used them, etc. It just seemed like it was too much work than what it was worth. I hope you find something that works for you, good luck!!!

I use coupons.com mostly, but the main stores I go to either send a sales flyer, have the store's prices on the website, or both. My husband brings home the coupon inserts from the Sunday paper and I go through them and cut out only coupons for products that I would use anyway. I check the online coupons once or twice a week (or when they send an email about new coupons) and print them on the same basis--I would use them anyway.

When I make my grocery list, I write out the meals we're going to make (I only plan dinner since I'm working during the day, but make sure we have breakfast and lunch options for my husband and the kids). I don't get coupons for a lot of things, like meat or milk or eggs, because I buy the store's. Our main grocer does sometimes mail store coupons for their products, which I use.

Again, I check the website when I'm writing my shopping list with my coupons in front of me. I take granola bars to work for snacks and often have coupons for a few different kinds (like Kashi, Fiber One, Nature Valley, etc.). Whichever brand is on sale is usually the one I buy that trip with my coupon. My favorite recent coupon was for Edge shave gel, which was online, and I was able to print two. This past week it was for Edge or Skintimate and I printed two of that one. The coupon is for $0.75 off, my grocery store doubles them under $1, and the sale price at my store was $1.88. I got two shave gels for my husband and two for me for $0.38 each. (I don't make out that good most of the time--but I was super excited about that combination last week!)

If you price shop online before you go to the store, it also helps you to see the true price. Sometimes it is cheaper per ounce for me to buy crackers at the regular store rather than Sam's Club. I buy store brands whenever possible, but for the things we are brand-loyal to, or that are convenient, coupons are great. Another great deal I got lately was 20/$10 for Campbell's tomato or chicken noodle soup at Tops. I like tomato soup at work in the winter and had two coupons for $1 off 10 cans, so I got 20 cans for $8 and am set for my back-up meals for the winter. I agree that couponing is helpful but would never go to the extremes that some people do. Who needs ten years' worth of toothpaste, really? Planning your meals and only buying food you know you're going to use is just as helpful. I type out my lists by department, try to incorporate other things in the house that need to be used up, and build my meals around a bulk item when possible.

Sorry this is so long--nothing I have is really novel. :)
