I'm looking for recommendations for a counselor for my 8 year old daughter. She has been having anger issues & scared of the dark. She will not sleep/stay in her bed at night. I am in north FTW/Keller..
Thanks

My 9 year old son sees a counselor for his ADHD. I called his pediatrician who was able to refer me to 3 counselors. I then checked my insurance to see if they were in network, and then researched the counselors online, and made my choice. So, I would probably start with her pediatrician.

When my daughter was having severe anxiety I got a few local referrals from her pediatrician. Start with that and go from there. You can also check your health insurance website for a list of providers. Another resource might be the school counselor. Good luck!

I would sugest you talk to her dr and they can probably tell you someone that you can take her to.

Ask pediatrician. The school counselor has no clue with this. School counselors are really not as useful with one-on-one as you moms tend to believe. We do group guidance against bullying, test anxiety and friendship clubs. Our resources are no broader than if were to do a google search yourselves.

Maybe talk to the school physiologist and see if he/she can recommend someone good.
