Could It Be a Reaction from Her Vaccinations?

my 9mo old daughter had her vaccinations on tues, and yesterday (wed) she had blood in her stool, three movements yesterday and all three had them, the 2nd was the worst. i took her in to the dr, and they are testing it for pathogens, parasites and something else, but they think its a milk allergy. she's a picky eater but has been eating cheese for about a month. we did just start her on yobaby yogurt a few days ago, but she never ate very much. she's had two movements today and they've been clear - she's been off dairy since yesterday lunch, but i'm wondering if this could be a reaction from her vaccinations. she still mostly breastfeeds and i've always eating dairy.

So What Happened?

i've decided it was the vaccinations, or a freak accident. we started my daughter back on dairy a few days after this incident and had no issues what so ever! just to let everyone know, she had her HEP B, pneumococcal conjugate, DTP and Hib vaccinations.

A milk allergy could be it. Even though you eat dairy while you breast feed, the higher amounts of it could have thrown her sensitive system off. My son had dairy issues but I had to give them up while I breast fed because he was so sensitive. I don't know about the vaccine, I have never heard of that as a side effect, but who knows. Good luck.

Hmmm....I wouldn't think it would be from vaccinations but anything is possible. I would think dairy intolerance makes sense...I'm sorry! I hope she is feeling better sooN!!

Its probably a milk allergy. My friends baby had it. She had to get the stool tested every once in awhile. She went on soy formula but eventually was able to drink reg milk. I remember she was very scared about all the blood but everything turned out ok.

your doctor should have given you a pamphlet with information about side effects of vaccinations. If not, go in and ask for one.
Or you can go online and look it up.

The one thing I can say is BE VIGILANT with telling your doctor EVERYTHING: your suspicions, your actions, what makes it better, what makes it worse, etc.. It is not something to mess around with and your doctor DOES have your daughter's best interest at heart.

Keep monitoring and maybe bring in the diaper to the docotor's office when you find a bloody stool.

Good Luck!!

I dont know if it could be, but my son was breastfed and he had bloody stool, and his ped thought milk allergy. i went off all milk products and slowly resumed and it cleared up. He is now on whole milk and if he drinks to much gets diarrhea.
it could very well be the vaccinations upset his system a bit.
my son was 3 months old when he had the issue, and my 10 months we were both on dairy again.

I have heard of vaccination reactions like this. Check out mothering.com it is a great resource for articles about vax. Definitelly go with your gut and definitely don't get anymore vaccinations until you figure out the issue.

Without knowing what vaccines she received it is hard to say, but there are two vaccines which cause sever problems in some kids. MMR and DPT. You will never get a doctor to admit that vaccines are the problem. I was in the hospital with an 9 month old baby who had her vaccinest and within 24 hours started to convulse. While she is was in the hospital room with us, I could see she was having petite mall seizures, and both parents and I thought that it was the vaccine DPT (specifically the Pertussis part thereof), but the doctors wouldn't even entertain that possiblity. I can't remember which, (I am pretty sure it is DPT) they have found in england causes severe problems in the colon, causing toxins to be released into the blood. I don't know what state you are in, but in some states you can delay the vaccines or request that only one vaccine be given at a time, aka. just measels, not MMR, or just Tetnus, not DPT. That way their systtem is not overwhelmed by all of the vaccines, and the toxins that are used to bind the vaccines together. If it stops, I think you would be okay, but I do not think it is a mild allergy. My brother had one, and he never had blood in his stool, just runny, runny poop. And here is a tidbit for you, I know this is going to upset all who read it, but I will fill you in. None of us have the enzymes to digest cow's milk. In fact, we loose the enzyems to digest breast milk at a certain age. That is why so many people are "lactose intolerant". News flash, we all are.
Good luck, and consider seperating or delaying the vaccines until she is older. I did that with my daughter and son until we moved to New york, and they do not allow that, so they had to be all caught up very quickly. If you are in a state that allows a philosphical waiver, you can have the vaccines given whenever YOU are comfortable. Also, get the list of ingredients from the vaccines (dr has to provide) and schedule an appointment with a pediatric allergist. They may help you as they may prescribe that only one vaccine be give at a time so they can determine if they are allergic to any of the binders and fillers in the vaccine. I know there are lots of pressure to do everything on the state mandated schedule. But stand your ground, and do as much research and get an allergist involved. You will feel better and so will your daughter.
