Could 2-Year-molars Cause THIS???

My 28-month-old son is getting/has just gotten his 2 year molars. I can see all 4 of them, but I don't think they're all the way in yet. He has been biting his hands a lot, which he hasn't done much since he was a baby. The last few nights, he has been waking up and cranky. He hasn't been getting enough sleep because of it, which is adding to the problem. But when I ask him if his teeth hurt, he says "no." During the day, he has been incredibly cranky. I can't do anything except sit with him and play or it annoys him. Even then, he gets upset sometimes. He has been screaming and crying so often. He is starting to become even more independent, so I expect some rebellion and "Me do it" behavior, but the last few days have been insane! Did anyone have similar experiences when their children cut their 2 year molars? Or do you think it's just an unrelated phase? Thanks,
M.

What can I do next?

MY 29 month old son is much the same way. His twin sister got hers in long before she was two and had no symptoms at all. They are all so different.

Thomas likes if I wet a washcloth and then freeze it. He them chews on it and it seems to help him.

Hi, M.:

Ask your ped doc to prescribe you some Hurricane gel for the baby's gums. Get some baby med for pain and discomfort.
Good luck. D.

Oh my goodness- we're in the same boat. :-)
Everytime my daughter got a tooth that is EXACTLY the way she acted and she is usually a very laid back child. After a brief reprieve, now come the 2 year molars and we're back in the same behavior routine. Whining, crying, tantrums etc.
If you're ok with giving medication, MOTRIN is your best friend! It lasts longer than Tylenol. I also use the Hylands Teething Tablets. At least your little guy is getting it all over with at once- that is a small blessing. My girl tends to drag out the teething process for months.(sigh)
Good luck and remember...this too shall pass. :-)

Dear M.,
Teething is certainly painful. However, all my children did the program from the Better Baby Institue and they were able to focus on learning which kept them occupied during some of the frustrating times of teething. The book, How to Teach your Baby to Read, by Glen Doman, teaches the parent techniques for teaching your baby to read. The Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential deals with the many developmental processes from infancy. The program is well worth the time to learn and work with your child. Two year olds have brains like sponges. They pick up on your frustrations. Take the time to do the program...I never regretted reading the book to get me started in the right direction. If it works for you, the way it worked for me, you will never regret this opportunity. Your child is worth it.
Good luck,
E.

Could be teething, could be simply that he's two. Could be he's not feeling well for some other reason. Two year molars are very tough. Try Hyland's Teething Tablets, that worked well for my kids.

He's probably going through everything together. My son whose molars came in all at the same time was a nightmare! He would suddenly just run round and bite us. I think he was so frustrated with pain we had to really stay on top of the pain meds. Once he was done it was just normal everyday tantrum throwing toddler! Just be consistent. Stay on top of the meds. Make sure if your punishing him with time out that your also showing him what the correct behavior looks like so he can learn that too.
