I was just reading anothers moms question about what to have for dinner. I have no idea what we are eating for dinner, nor do I even care! (Well of course I care, but I don't want to be the one to cook it!!!!!!!) I know we all go through this at some point here and there, wanting a 'vacation' from cooking. Trying to find new things to cook... making it fun... cooking according to the weather and such... Well, I am going through one of those kind of stages where I'd seriously eat cereal for dinner... every night. I am SOOOOO tired of cooking! I can't shake it! Help me want to cook again ;)

I eat/serve cereal (or the equivilent) for a week or two. I'll get sick of it eventually, and start cooking again.

I actually enjoy cooking. I put the baby in the high chair with some Cheerios and I get to have fun in the kitchen for an hour or so before the hubs gets home. I am always trying new things, so I think that helps.

I'm 100% with you... I usually make a big brunch for my family on Saturday and Sunday (my days off); I like to be relax and in the mood... Well, Friday night my hubby made some chicken wings, not enough for a meal, just to get us all super hungry, then told me it was my turn... I don't think it turned out that good because I wasn't in the mood...

We can't afford to eat out all the time, so have to cook, but I'm with you... cereal does sound good for supper tonight...LOL

I love to cook - most of the time (see my screen name?). I try to keep it simple. With the warmer weather, we do a lot of grilling - mostly chicken and fish with a steak thrown in once in a while. I keep the kitchen cool by making lots of fresh veggies in salads or things that require very little cooking time (like boxed couscous - try it if you never have). Last night I splurged on some expensive lamb loin and marinated it in olive oil and rosemary. I cut it in cubes and skewered (sp?) it and my husband grilled it to medium. I made a salad of cubed English cucumbers, tomato, scallions & feta cheese with fresh dill - a favorite. I also whipped up some home made hummus in the food processor. I made tzatziki sauce with greek yogurt, dill & grated cucumber. We put the tzatziki sauce on pocketless pitas and then put the meat on them - delicious. Simple meal, really. Tonight we're grilling chicken and basically doing the same thing with maybe a green salad - no cooking for me tonight.

I am inspired by summer farmer's markets and all the fresh produce that's available this time of year. The summer corn is fantastic in NJ! Grilled chicken, corn and a salad is a great summer meal and requires almost no cooking on my part. My husband doesn't mind going out to the grill for a few minutes with whatever I've marinated ahead of time. Keep it fresh and simple with a few fresh herbs thrown in and really, it's not cooking. Stay away from all the processed junk and take advantage of all the fresh goodies available. It will wake up your taste buds and give you a new perpective.
BTW, anyone in NJ - remember I'm a Pampered Chef Consultant so if you need cooking advice or want to visit my website, send me a message. If you want to LEARN how to cook - we can talk about hosting a cooking show for you and your friends and then you can get lots of free things to cook with for yourself. Anyone in any other state can still host an online show and earn products too. Wow, shameless plug - but I really do LOVE teaching people who to cook.

You should do the "breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dinner like a pauper" thing. Works better.

what does it for me is....
watching food network - I never make what they make exactly, but it does get my creative juices flowing.
going to e new or differant grocery store. differant stores have differant items out on display that may spark an idea. especially if you go to a Whole Foods, or farmers market, something totally differant than your usual.
Sometimes I poke around Allrecipies.com to see what they have going.

I hate cooking and am currently on a stage of REALLLY hating cooking right not.
I could, scream.

So, I get pre-made dinners from Costco.
Just heat and eat.

Also, my 'tradition' is: every Friday is a NO cooking night for me. I do not cook on Friday nights. To give myself a break at the end of the week.
My family, is fine with that.
They eat leftovers, or get take out, or my Hubby makes something for himself. The kids eat anything, so its fine.
And yes, we have eaten cereal for dinner.

I usually cook from scratch every darn night.
I am so burnt out from it, these past 2 weeks.
UGH!

Oh trust me, I KNOW the feeling! I have a picky husband, a toddler, am pregnant, and make pretty much all the meals and it all gets old on doing it, not having a wider variety to make, what to even make, and well like I said above....doing it. I hate cooking most of time! Now baking on the other hand, love it! I have NO clue what we're eating tonight!

I love to cook but only on my terms. As far as the day in/day out nature of cooking, I hate it. I will be watching your replies for some inspiration!

Tonight we will be catching dinner out between activities and I couldn't be happier!!
