T.K.
I think the word "freshly" is the key. If you can look at them and tell they had spaghettios for lunch because it's still all over thier face and shirt - disgusting, dirty, lack of concern.
Do you find kids freshly messy cookie faces super cute and adorable ... OR
Disgusting, dirty, and a lack of concern from a parents perspective to take the time to wash each and every single crumb the moment it happens onto there cherub faces?
Just going to put it out there, that cookie or food faces do NOT bother me, BUT SAND and sticky gunky runny nose messes do.

i find cookie faces. camera worthy i love them and love the pictures and later i go back and look at them and think i;m so glad i took that pic. i agree runny nose or just dirty none bath kids i dont like.
food face=cute... booger face= gross
Very cute... and then Kiddo is handed a washcloth and told to go find the mirror and wipe his cute face clean.
I dont mind cookie faces that is cute. What I DO mind, is when their breakfast is still all over their faces by dinner time, along with their runny nose gunk all over, dirt and whatever else that day. And too when it has spread all over their clothes too.
That does gross me out. It takes only a minute to wipe them up. Especially if you are expecting people over.
crumbs cute, sticky nasty!!!
Crumbs....cute.
Green snot....GAG!!!
(I was always a pretty immediate crumb wiper though!)
I am a grandma and have many pictures of my kids and grandkids in their high chairs with spaghetti faces or faces full of ice cream from an ice cream cone. They are cute and make me smile. Once they are done eating, I usually have a warm washrag to wash them up before letting them down.
Yesterday we went to my granddaughter's birthday party and my 2 year old grandson had bbq sauce from earlier lunch on his hands and face. I had to get a wet wipe and clean it up. There is a difference between cute, just eaten dirty face and dried on leftovers.
