Cooing in Crib

This may be a really stupid question but I am a new mom so bear with me. My boy is 3 months and when he wakes up he will spend some time cooing in the crib. How long did/do you guys let your little ones hang out in there and do that at this age? I usually wait for the tone to change to "i am bored now" but it takes maybe 10-15 minutes for that to happen.

What can I do next?

Oooo, I loved hearing those cute but happy little noises from all ten of mine when they were little...now from my first grandchild. I'd say that'sthe sign of a content baby. Don't ruffle things by coming in when he's perfectly content on his own. Thank the Lord he coos and "talks". What a cutie he sounds like.

Brandon is almost 7mo & still does that when he wakes up. He'll lay there for a 1/2hr just babbling. I love listening to it. I'll just lay in bed & listen to him until he lets me know he's ready or I just decide to go get him. Enjoy it!

Your doing great. Your intuition is right on the mark. Put some of those toys in there that hang off the side of the crip that will keep him cooing for a long time.

Hello L.,
Honestly, I'd let him coo as long as he seems content. If he starts to sound like "Helllloooo? anyone there??" I'd get him! Lucky you that he does that! Mine were always like "HEYYYYY! Come get me now!"

Let him hang out in there. He's learning to entertain himself. Plus it gives you an extra 15 minutes to do something! :)

Yeah I think you are doing the right thing. It's great he can enterntain himself for a little while. Let him stay in there for a few minutes until he's bored then go get him.

Isn't that the best sound!!!! My baby turns 10 today so I miss that sometimes (not enough to have a 5th child though)

I would let him entertain himself for quite awhile but always go in there prior to him changing to a discontented sound. You want to teach him that he doesn't have to yell to get your attention. Also, you may even want to go in there every 5 min or so, acknowledge him a bit and then leave again so he gets used to that, too. I did this for my kids and even when they turned 2 and they were moved out of the crib, they would still wake up happy and play a bit in their bed before getting up. Its a great habit to get into.

My son is 14 months and still coos and plays in his crib before he is ready for me to come get him. Some days it is just for 5 mins that he will play and sometimes its for 30 mins. I like the other moms have said would not leave them in there for hours. But he is content so just lay there and listen to him or use the time to get a quick shower in ( with the baby monitor on so you can hear him). Thats my time to get a shower in alone with out one in the shower with me or standing there watching and getting all wet. A.

If your son can sit and coo in his crib I think it's great and that he is comfortable enough to have some alone time. I think this will help you in the long run if he wakes up and it's early early he can occupy himself for a little while before you go get him. I wouldn't worry about a time frame if he's happy then I wouldn't even look at the clock. Of course I obvioulsy wouldn't leave him for hours either.
