Constantly Loosing the Backs of Earings

We are constantly loosing the backs of my 11 mo daughters earings. Most of the time it is when I am changing her, but today while playing she lost the whole earing. These have push on screw off backs, but I am always checking and pushing the back back on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First I want to say thanks to all who provided me with some helpful tips. I did purchase another pair of screw on earings that I could not pull the backs off, hopefully that will do the trick.
Secondly, I would like to remind us all that this space is used to provide advise and guidance to those that request it and not a place to judge or criticize other mom's who do not have the same views.
Thank you.

Same thing happened with my daughter. I replaced the backs with those little plastic backs that usually come on dangly earings (I have no idea what those things are called.) I just removed them from a pair of earings I had and put them on the backs of her earings. I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!

Hey L.,

My daughter had her ears pierced at two months old and the same thing happened to me. I used tiny hoop earrings with lever backs on them. They are attached to the hoop so you can't loose them. It really helped us. We lost so many stud post earrings that I used to panic that she would swallowed one.

I used to always carry with me bits of rubber-band in case I lost the backs of my earrings –which happened often enough with an especially enthusiastic boyfriend I had once, LOL!
If you daughter isn't allergic to rubber, those little bits can really work for her. Just cut a small piece of a regular rubber band and pierce it with the post and use it like you would use a regular backing. You'll see that it does stay put as long as you want!

Take off the earrings. She's only 11 months old, doesn't need them anyway.

My daughter is 18 months old and we went through the same thing. I found that the cap backs they put on piercing studs work great. They are actually hard to remove. I am not sure if you can purchase them alone, or if you need to buy the pair of earings. I have them on my daughter and becasue she is young and we are not changing the earings everyday I have her birthstone stud in her ears and the piercing backs and they have been in for months. I clean them regularly and I have not problem.

Change to the other kind of pierced earring that has a hinged clasp on the back.

Don't put earrings on her, she could choke if she tries to eat one!

Hi L.,

What about the tiny, clear, rubber 'stoppers'? I use them and they're the best earring backs.

Hope this helps.
