once apon a child but it is in north garland off 1-90 and 78
I have a food retail store in Plano, across from the Studio Movie Grill. Everything we sell is for people with food allergies. Since kids often have allergies we cater to a lot of moms. So I am thinking allocating part of the store for resale of kids clothes would be a natural fit. Do you Plano moms already have a store, have some clothes, toys you would like to put in the store or advice?? Thanks.

Hi L.. You know your customers better than anyone, but before embarking on the consignment initiative, why not survey them? You can ask them a few questions when they are in your store, or mail them a short survey with an incentive attached (fill out and return for a 10% discount off your next purchase, etc...). This way you'll know if it is something they will take advantage of before you go to the trouble and expense.
I would also suggest that you know where the closest consigment stores are to your location and research your competition. There are quite a few consignment stores for kids out there (Kid to Kid, Cute as a Button, etc...).
Thirdly, I am a freelance marketing professional and would be happy to help you with the research, and or your launch of this new endeavor. I work with businesses of all sizes. My rates are competitive and my work is high quality. Check out my website at www.continuummarketing.com and email me if you are interested in discussing further.
Good luck to you in your endeavor.
PS: I sold my child's clothes to a consignment store once and was disappointed with the process and the amount I received. Now I just donate them and take the tax write off-it easier. Just my own personal experience.
Sincerely,
K.
Hi L.,
I would like to know the name of your store, address, phone number. I have friends whose children have allergies and I would like to send them to your store.
As far as the consignment part - I think is is a good idea but I think you should talk to the owner of a consignment store already in existance to see how much time will be involved in all of the checking in processes, etc. Seems to me it might be a LOT of additional work. If you've already done that homework, I wish you much success.

Hi L., I would be interested in having some of my daughter's gently used clothes and toys in your store if you decide to proceed with the consignment idea. Most of the consignment places I have tried to sell to though don't offer much money for the items, like less than a dollar for items they resell for $5.00. I know retail space is not cheap and maybe that's just the way it has to be... keep me posted though! N.
