Take a blood pregnancy test maybe your last period was a miscarriage atempt and call your doctor please this is not normal and you need proffesional advice

I have not had my period in 6 going on 7 weeks! I have taken several pregnancy tests and they have all come back negative! My husband and I are not trying to get pregnant, but I keep hoping one will come back positive so I know why I am not getting my period! My last period was really bad, lots of cramping and irritability! I stayed in bed for almost a whole day while my husband took care of the kids! My mom started having symptoms like this around my age and she ended up needing a hysterectomy (sp?). Do I make an appointment with my doctor? or do I wait it out a little longer? Any advice would be great!

I had a similiar situation with my first baby. If you are also very tired, gaining weight, and always cold, I would definately go to the doctor and see if they want to check your thyroid function. It is very common for thyroid function to fluctuate up to a year after having a baby.
Hi S.,
Yes, make a Dr.'s appointment. Could be a cyst or fibroid problem. Happened to me when I was 31, I had to have a hysterectomy. My daughter has the same problem and she is only 24. Go to the Dr. it will be a relief to know what is going on. Best wishes, C.
Assuming you have insurance, it can't hurt to make an appointment with your doctor and get checked out. I had the complete opposite problem about 9 months after my son was born: I bled for weeks non-stop. I went to the doctor and it had to do with my body still being hormonal after my pregnancy and the doc put me on birth control to regulate my system -- and it worked.
Good luck to you!
I would definitely have your thyroid checked. I have severe cramping before my diagnosis. I ultimately found out it was because I hadn't been ovulating and therefore cysts were forming. The cyst were then bursting causing the cramping.
I would at least contact your OB and perhaps talk with the nurse there. They can determine whether you should go in or wait a little longer. If I were you, and was worried about it that much, I would just make the appointment. Better to catch something rather than let it fester to make the situation worse. Wishing the best of luck to you!
I had something similar happen to me after my 6 year old was born. Sometimes it just takes a more time to get your body back on track. That is what my Dr. told me, I would wait it out a little longer, maybe a week or so and then re-do a test. Good Luck
Hi S., First of all, don't panic. Though I don't put much faith in what is called traditional medicine, they have come a long way since your mom was treated. From what you describe, it could be fibroid cyst(s) and they could very well be benign, making a hysterectomy unnecessary. They form monthly and are supposed to sluff of when you have your period. Sometimes it lodges and causes problems. Your family doctor will probably send you to a gynocologist and it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion anyway before any decisions are made on your part.
Take care and be well,
S.
Are you under a lot of stress from work/classes? Have things changed at home (ie Hunter going to pre-school)? Have you stopped taking any form of birth control, anti-depressant or other medication? Before my twins were born, I was on the Pill, and once I stopped, my periods went for a loop. It was almost 5 months before I had a confirmed pregnancy (the twins). In that time, I'd also stopped smoking (went from a pack a day to none) and had consequently upped my number of cocktails per week. My OB/GYN said both those things can attribute to your period being strange.
Another thing that (I think) played into my issue was rapid weight change. I went on a radical weight loss plan where I lost about 30 pounds in 3 months (which I don't suggest, as I gained it all back in less than a month). Beyond that, have you checked for Thyroid issues, or possible diabetes? I know those can throw off your hormones.
Good luck love, and if you ever need to talk, give me a jingle.
Hearts,
M.
are you still nursing?
S., go see your doctor. know what is going on before you get yourself crazy. you can handle what life throws at you the more educated you are about what is going on. it could be nothing but stress or it could be something more involved but you don't know! get answers and empower yourself. Waiting any longer would be agony. Not knowing is brutal. Make the appointment and keep it, for you. ~M
