A friend of my recently took three store bought preganancy test. all three were negative but she felt pregnant. She went to the doctor and was 4 weeks pregnant!
I recently had a negative pregnancy test....then a positive pregnancy test a few days later, but the line was just barely visible....then a negative one a few days later...then another positive one a few days later, also with the line very faint. Sooo, does this mean yes, or no!?!?! I definitely feel pregnant, and will call my doctor, but wanted some feedback! Thanks!

Hi E.! Are you taking the tests at the same time of day? If not that could be a cause, at some points it is higher/more concentrated than others. I would get into the doc asap & have them run labs & check your levels to make sure if you are pregnant that they are increasing as they should! Good luck!
Hi there! Congratulations - you are pregnant! There are not false positives on pregnancy tests - just low HCG levels. My oldest son is kind of my miracle baby...I kept testing for 7 weeks after I missed my period and they were all negative and then finally a positive. My HCG levels were just VERY low. He was a threatened miscarriage and was not developing so my doctor put me on progesterone. Today, he is 4. So, go see your OB! You are having baby #2!
I would almost guarantee you are pregnant. Mine did that with my third child my daughter! Call your doctor and go on in!! Congratulations you are gna be a mommy!!
I certainly agree that you need to check it out with your doctor. In my past experience, we had been trying to get pregnant for 4 years. My first pregnancy test was very clear, but I had heard that you could get a false positive, so I wanted to check it again. I was very anxious, so I drank alot of water to make me need to go. That test was very faint. I read on the directions later, that lots of water can make the line faint. So if you drank alot of water just before the test, this could be the reason for the faint line. Good luck, and I hope your doctor's visit confirms that you are pregnant.
Have you tried the digital test I think they work much better than trying to see a line.
I had the same thing happen to me somewhat. It may be so early in your pregnancy, that depending on the test sensitivity it is having a hard time picking up the pregnancy hormone. Try the clear blue easy test. Those seem to work really well. They say pregnant not pregnant no lines involved. Sometimes you can get a false negative, but not a false positive. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.
Hi. A pregnancy test cannot have any line whatsoever, not even the faintist line, unless it detects the HCG hormone that's only during a pregnancy. Are you using the same brand test each time? Are you very late on your period? HCG hormone levels increase as a pregnancy progresses. That is why they do bloodwork at your prenatal visit to check the level. A pregnancy thats HCG levels do not increase, or are very low, most likely is not going to progress. They should steadily increase. Other signs, like morning sickness are actually a good indication of high HCG levels. In any case, if you've had one positive test, no matter how light the line was, and you'r late on your period-assume you are, and get into a DR. to check everything out! Good Luck
I would definitly schedule an appt. for bld work w/your ob/gyn. They usually can get you in pretty quick if its just bld work. Personal experience my second pregnancy I had 1 faint line and one a little darker, called my dr they did the HGC levels 3 times & even had a sono & it turn out to be a miscarriage. I work in an ob/gyn office & its NEVER the same for everyone so best advice is to get the HGC levels done. I hope everything turns out in your favor! God bless!
I have always heard that any faint line means you are positive! If there was no hcg, then it could not even be faint. It took me a whole week after my missed period to get a positive.
Are you taking the test with your first morning urine? If it is very early in your pregnancy (especially if you haven't missed a period yet or JUST missed your period), your hormone levels are easier to detect in the morning. Your negative tests could be the result of taking the test later in the day when your urine is more diluted and your hormone levels not as concentrated. So, I would suggest taking it again but making sure it is first thing in the morning. Any line - nomatter how faint - makes the test positive. Good luck!
I did that with my daughter and then waited 2 weeks and went into the doctor, He said since I was so barely pregnant that the home tests were having trouble - so you could be but just by a little bit.
Hi E.,
Your post request reminds me a lot of what I asked about 11 months ago now....I had a test that I took early in the morning and it showed negative very quickly.....however, I came back about 3 hours later to find it was posotive with a very faint line. I took another one and it did the same thing, very faint line. When I went to the OB to take their urine test.....the nurse was pretty set that I was not pregnant because it took a while to show the very faint posotive line and then she saw it......SO, it sound's like you're pregnant to me! : )
When they did lab work on me to see my levels, the lab work showed that I was only around 3 weeks pregnant which made sense the test was so faint...
No matter what anyone says, there's no way you can have a false posotive so congratulations and good luck to you!
varied test results can reflect the type of test (different ones have different accuracy levels, some are easier to read than others, etc...), varied hormone levels, pregnancy, or more serious problems. How many days before/after your missed period is it? Have you been taking any fertility medications, etc...? Do you take any type of medication with hormones? These things can also affect results. Even something as simple/uncomfortable as an infection can be reflected in results. Check with your dr. and let her/him be the one to tell ya for sure. If it's going to be a few days before you can test, get an ept or simple blue or some test with 97-99 percent accuracy and easier to read results window. example. changes blue or pink depending on result, or plus to minus, actually says pregnant or not, get one with a digital type readers, etc.... Hang in there E.. Don't go racing out to buy baby clothes just yet.
I recently had the same thing happen...a very faint line on two tests. My period was 11 days late. I made an appointment with my OBGYN. I had spots of blood the next day, so I went into the dr. immediately. Their test was very faint. Basically, they kind of tried to tell me that I wasn't pregnant. This is the dr.'s office's way of "damage control" because we often are so devastated by miscarriage, it's better to say, "Oh, it was just a late period."
Anyway, I didn't spot the next day, but did the day after. So, my "period" came, but it actually was a miscarriage. I've had a miscarriage before and this was definitely miscarriage bleeding, not period bleeding.
The dr. could not confirm the pregnancy via ultrasound because the embryo would be too small to see at that point, so basically I wasn't "clinically" pregnant because it couldn't be diagnosed by the dr. What I had was a "chemical" pregancy. Google or Yahoo! "chemical pregnancy." Many women have these and just later think that their period was late for some reason. In fact, I believe one source stated that all women have at least one, probably several, of these during their lives. Pregancies that are chromosomally (or otherwise) incorrect will be terminated by our bodies naturally in many cases.
One of the other moms posted to talk to your dr. about progesterone. I didn't know about this until it was too late. A friend of mine told me that dark-headed women (as opposed to blondes, red-heads, or women with light to medium brown hair) are more in need of progesterone to support pregancy in some cases. This is a good tip...make the call NOW.
On a personal note, I have three kids, so I wasn't devastated, but I wanted to share with you what I learned. You need to get your hormone levels up to support your pregnancy! Blessings!
what brand of test are u useing the reason i ask is the one from the dollar tree show up positive i went through that with dollar tree test. good luck
go get the blood test I took urnie test for the first 2 months of pregnancy they were all negative but the blood I blew off the charts. The blood doesn't lie.
I think a call to the OB is in order, but if I was in Vegas, I'd put money on you being pregnant! Congrats!!!
Congratulations!! I'm willing to bet you're pregnant! Remember that the pregnancy hormone that the test picks up flucutates during the day. It is usually strongest first thing in the morning, and weaker later on, especially if you've been drinking a lot of fluid. Lower hormone levels can result in a fainter line or a false negative. I got lots of false negatives with my first pregnancy, but you really don't get a false positive. Good luck.
I did the same thing- My doctor said that my progesterone was fluxuating. I took several test, and each one was different. It could be a cyst, an ovarian or etopic pregnancy-so PLEASE see your doctor ASAP. I think that my son was a twin- and one implanted in the tube, but was absorbed. My body would "get rid" of a pregnancy by 5 weeks, so I was monitored very closely. Now I have 2 beautiful children!!!
Oh, the stress!!! A website that I just love - because this woman makes me not feel so neurotic - is www.peeonastick.com - go there & read all about different pregnancy tests & results and whatnot. She posts pictures of positive tests and really gives you the low down on what can and can't happen with a pregnancy test. Early congrats!
After 12 years of marriage and no pregnancy, an adoption from Russia....I took 5 tests and had a faint pink line. My ob told me you can have false negative, but NEVER a false positive.
Congratulations!
Hello E.. With my personal experience I would say that you are pregnant or that the test is detecting pregnancy hormones in your body. I would still go to the Doctor. I have heard that there is a such thing as a false negative, but no such thing as a false positive. Good luck!
