I know its hard to think about the holidays but they are right around the corner. Has anyone gotten up super early on Black Friday for a great deal on a computer? If so, where and was it worth it. I have done the whole shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, but never have I done the early bird promos. Any advise about surviving the Black Friday rush would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

dealnews.com will be posting Black Friday deals from TONS of stores as they get leaked in the next month or so. You can compare deals from the different stores & decide where you want to shop.

Plus, you will probably be better off ordering a computer online with a good deal, rather than fighting the traffic :)

There are definitely deals to be had but after venturing out two years ago in the wee hours of the morning, I swore I would never ever do it again, regardless of how good the deals are. To be honest, it made me sick at my stomach. At literally four a.m., there were hundreds of people standing around these covered pallets of merchandise that Walmart was advertising. The black plastic wrapping couldn't be removed until 5:00 a.m. and when the employees made the first move to start cutting the ties and plastic, the shoppers went balisitic. There was pushing and shoving, screaming, yelling, grabbing and literally snatching. I honestly did not feel safe. I sort of stood back and just watched it happen and felt completely ashamed of myself for being in the midst of that chaos. I kept thinking to myself, "Is this what the celebration of the birth of our Savior has come to??" Because, that IS why we even celebrate the day, afterall. Anyway, I know you're going to be looking for good deals and I completely understand that but just wanted to share with you what I witnessed as an early black Friday shopper. BTW, this was the same black friday almost two years ago when the WM employee from somewhere in a northern US city was trampled to death trying to open the doors to the early morning customers racing for those deals....something very wrong with that.

ha ha ha, talk about starting early. google black friday ads, there is this great site that posts all the deals and updates. people are really into it. i dont think the site opens up until sometime in october though.

before black friday, walmart had weekend deals and i managed to get one of the last laptops. you still have to be at the store quite early. the deal was good but black friday was a little better.

i also did manage to get a laptop last friday at walmart on BF. it was not the cheapest one though. you have to get there really early and wait, even though walmart may open up earlier, they still dont start the registers, so you are waiting awhile. but they tell you right away how many are left and give you a ticket. if you leave line to go potty, you have a certain amount of time to get back. each item has a line in a different place in the store, so you can only get on line for one item.

my advice, unless you plan to sleep outside, dont bother with electronics places like best buy. they have such a small number. walmart had the best chance. they usually will have one for lets say $300 and one for $400, ect. the $400 is better but people all go after the cheapest. chances are better to get a more expensive one.

you may just have better luck with the deals before black friday or online. yeah, you are spending a little more, but its not that much in comparison to the time and possibility of not even getting anything on BF.

early birds though in general are fun. last year i stayed up the whole night, started at disney store at midnight. i ran over to walmart, then i went to wait in a mile long line at toys r us, then did the normal places after 5. its fun and exciting, but if you go, go with a whole plan. people who stay up just to get that one thing get so mad if they dont get it, as if they are entitled. the whole thing is comical, you have to take it all in fun. however, if i lived in a big city, i dont know if it would do it.

Please join bfads. com. It is seasonal website that's sole purpose is to update, rate and present all available black friday sales, in stores and onlines. Including shopping guides.
I get up with the crowd and am usually in a store by 5a. But I am also usually home in time to make breakfast and am done with my Christmas shopping.
I have bought things on line before and got great deals. Depending on the store site some may make items available on thanksgiving day. I bought our camera that way.
My experience as been the earlier the better. The people who are out super early, well, we are all considered a little nuts. But generally people are kind and having fun. The later in the morning it gets the worse it gets, people are tired and there are tons more out. The first year I went I decided getting out at 8 am was early enough, wrong!! So if you decide to brave the crowds you will enjoy the day more and won't regret doing it if your do it EARLY!

Yea the best deals are usually on tv/s but if are going to get up make sure it is worth the effort and you get in line first. We almost lost a tv because they wanted to do credit and got denied and we got it. Last one. They use as a ploy to get you in but only have a limited number. But clothes are a great deal and sometimes you can just shop online and get same deal. (in pj's)Good luck

got my daughters laptop at walmart last year for $249.00, same laptop was listed at $400.00 the week before at Best Buy...

Sometimes they only have limited numbers of things so be ready for them to run out before you get there!
