I hope you will reconsider. This is based on junk science and scams. You will lose important nutrients.
As others have said, eat more fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, especially raw.
What have you tried that worked great! There are so many products out there and I have tried a couple but with little results, or some pretty nasty side effects.
Any products out there that really work? Or a natural method I have not thought of?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks mommas.. I appreciate the answers and it made me look at it a different way.. well I wanted to start a colon/body cleanse as part of getting rid of toxins... I do suffer from constipation, and yes my diet needs to change... I get so fed up and so bloated some times, and when this happens I have hardly any energy and feel very uncomfortable. I hate using laxitives, I have heard of using Green Vibrance as a natural way to help the body.. I just was not sure the way to go about this. I will have to drink lots more water, maybe add some flax seed or flax seed oil to my diet.
Thanks again.

I just read an article, sorry I don't remember where, that said colon cleansings are not only a waste of money, but can actually be bad for your health. It stated that the process kills good bacteria in the digestive tract that our bodies need to stay healthy and balanced, and by killing these bacteria we can leave ourselves open to a variety of health issues. If I remember correctly, yogurt was recommended to help restore and aid in digestion. Of course I am not a doctor so I have no idea the validity of the article, but IMO it merits research.
if you are looking to do this for weight loss - colon cleansing is NOT the way to do it. it's not a quick fix and if you don't change your eating habits, it won't have any long term affects.
A natural method would be eating more high fiber things like apples, oatmeal, etc.
.
Why are you wanting to do a colon cleansing? What do you expect to see as results?
I am pretty much against colon cleanings simply from observing the bad experiences I have seen my mom and friends have when doing them.
Drinking plenty of water, getting exercise each and every day(simply brisk walking), eating healthy with plenty of fiber in your diet will allow your body to naturally "cleanse" itself.
I would go THAT natural route before spending extra money on special "natural" teas, pills, and other concoctions.
Good luck and best wishes!!
I do not really understand the idea behind colon-cleansing. I understand needing a suppository or an enema if you are constipated. If you really want a thorough "cleansing", the same products that are used before abdominal surgery and colonoscopies will do the trick. They are all miserable. And, there is a dark side. My daughter who is graduating with a B.S. in dietetics was taught emptying the bowels this way eliminates the good bacteria and without replenishing with probiotics and prebiotics actually increases risk for colon cancer and many other problems (perhaps even affecting mental health-- http://itsnotmental.blogspot.com/2011/03/gut-brain-and-ba... )
If you are having trouble with your bowel movements, i would suggest an enema.
If you are attempting to do this for weight loss. It can be VERY bad for you..check with your doctor to see what he/she says before you do this.
I do not know what products you are talking about. Enema bag filled with water is the best thing. Anything that you have to drink - is bad for you and will cause harm to your body. Is this for some medical test prep? Enema bag with warm water and about a teaspoon of lemon juice. Good luck with this.
Danger Danger. My cousin, who is a doctor, says colons don't need to be cleansed. It can change the bacterial makeup of the whole system, which isn't a good thing.
Eat right, drink plenty of fluids and make sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet. And leave the natural order of things alone.
The colon needs cleansing like a fish needs a haircut. You have to eat better and drink plenty of fluits. Also walking and adding some healthy oils like olive oil or avocado will help to keep things moving. BTW the liver and the kidneys are removing "toxins" from your body, not the colon.
I have tried everything from the actual colon cleaning process to pills and liquids. The thing that does wonders for me is the below natural recipe....I can not say enough good things about it.
So I got tons of requests for the recipe I made this morning on The Today Show. Here it goes!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 head organic romaine lettuce, chopped
3-4 stalks organic celery
1/2 head of a large bunch or 3/4 of a small bunch of spinach
1 organic apple, cored and chopped
1 organic pear, cored and chopped
1 organic banana
Juice of 1/2 fresh organic lemon
optional:
1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems okay)
1/3 bunch organic parsley (stems okay)
Directions:
Add the water and chopped head of romaine to the blender. Starting the blender at low speed, mix until smoothi. Gradually moving to higher speeds, add the celery, apple and pear. Add the cilantro and parsley, if you are choosing to add them. Add the banana and lemon juice last.• Try to drink at least 16-24 ounces a day, if not more! Stir before you drink!
• I encourage you to mix and match your greens and fruits, as greens and fruits food combine well together (except for melons). Be sure to balance the light and darker greens, so for instance, if you want to add some kale, be sure to balance with the lighter green of celery. Bill the anchor today, mentioned he didn’t like cilantro. No problem! Just leave it out and use another green instead, or up the quantities of the other greens.
• * If you are diabetic and prefer to cut out all high glycemic fruit, you can omit the banana. Otherwise, I suggest keeping it in, as it adds a nice consistency and taste.
• ** It is important to blend until all “chunks” are removed from the mixture. There are a lot of nutrients encased into the cell walls of the green plants, and these need to be ruptured so full nutrition is available upon consumption without much digestive work. If you don’t have a great blender, you may have to blend longer and the smoothie will get warm. In that case, be sure to make it the night before, so it will be nice and cool by breakfast time!
