Clomid - Do You Always Ovulate When Taking This???

My best friend miscarried about 8 weeks ago. She got her cycle back and the doc told her she could resume Clomid.

She has been using those pee stick ovulation things and has only one more day left in her window and she is freaking out because they haven't come up positive yet. Is it possible to not ovulate after you have taken Clomid, which makes you ovulate??

All the other times she has taken Clomid, she did the pee stick test and she did ovulate...

Is it possible she ovulated early and thus when she started to test for ovulation it had already passed? She followed the typical guidelines of when were the optimal days to test for ovulation, so she didn't start testing until that window occurred..

Any insight would be helpful. She will call her doc next week, but I thought I would ask you moms who might have had some knowledge of this.

Thanks

She could also chart her temps. I always ovulated around cycle day 15 while on clomid with my 1st baby(it took 3 months before timing the sex right to actually conceive) and now this is the 2nd child I'm trying to conceive on clomid, and this is my first month on it, I didn't get a positive ovulation pee test until cycle day 18. after over a week of negative tests, I thought for sure that it hadn't worked. Sometimes it doesn't work though, and they'll have to up her dosage.

If she has PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome) as the underlying cause of not ovulating, she probably won't have a positive ovulation test. The hormones mask the correct results. Also the recent miscarriage could mask the results as well. I had 2 kiddos using Clomid and could never tell when I was ovulating. The ovulation tests say right on there that some medical conditions could give incorrect results, something I wish my doctor would have told me and helped me have less heart ache in the process (if that is possible when you have to take clomid or any fertility anything when you want a kiddo so badly).

It's absolutely possible that she either a) has not ovulated yet and this is a longer than usual for her cycle, or b) that she has already ovulated. Is she seeing a fertility specialist? If so, they usually monitor clomid with both blood tests and ultrasounds. If she will take a blood test, it will tell her much more.

Having a miscarriage can play tricks on your cycle. Not everyone goes back to have a "normal" cycle again. Her body just may need time to rest. Of course, talking to her doc never hurts either. If she wants a doula, have her contact me!
