Vinegar (white) and water ..... old school - no chemicals and works really well. Not to mention CHEAP!!
I'm looking for products and/or techniques for cleaning my hardwood floor. Even when I've just mopped, it still looks like there are smudgy footprints everywhere. We had the floor refinished about 2 years ago, and it looks much better than it did, but I'm frustrated that I can't get it to look clean.

Not sure what you may have been cleaning with....If you were to use Basic Coatings IFT (Intensive Floor Treatment) to really clean the floor back down to the finish. Always try in a small area before attacking the whole floor.
After this process I would recommend using the Basic Coating Hardwood & Laminate Floor cleaner, Squeeky.

We just got hardwoods installed in November and the installer told us the ONLY thing to use on them was water with some white vinegar mixed in. The first time I mopped I decided to use Murphy's Soap instead... urgh. Major yucky splotchy dull residue. So now we use vinegar/water each time and the floors still look new!
(We also recently bought a Shark which we LOVE and use the same in it)
We only use Bona Hardwood Floor cleaner. It works excellently, is recommended by installers, and is safe for the environment. Oh, and it gives excellent results.
Good luck!
I actually work for a housecleaning company and the most popular brand that our clients prefer and it works really good is Bona.
I use I believe its called Orange Glo Hardwood floor cleaner it comes in a green squeeze bottle.Easy to use and I love the way it makes my floor shine. Dont walk or roll anything over it while wet obviously or it will smudge.
I agree with the Bona suggestions. It has always worked for me! I spray it on and wipe it off with a towel. Hands and knees... Not fun, but totally worth it!
I run an in home day care and you can imagine the mess the kids make, and the dirt they track in, along with our family and pets. I had my floors refinished about 8 years ago and they look like new. I use something called "squeeky clean" it is sold at wood floor refinishing places. It evaporates very fast. You put in 4 ounces to a quart of water and mop it on. A gallon costs under 30 bucks and lasts about a year. M. in Wisconsin
Try Rustic Touch Furniture Care. I use it on my wood furniture and love it.
