Does anyone know of a good way to clean hardwood floors? So far everything I've tried I just don't feel like I'm getting them clean! Then we all have dirty socks! Let me know if you have a product or method you think works well! Thanks so much!

I use a Zep product sold in Home Depot called Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner. It leaves my floors very shiny and does a very good job of cleaning any marks, stains, etc. that may be on the floor. I use a cotton rag mop with it and it never leaves streaks on the floor. You can buy the small 32 oz. container and then refill it with the 1 gal. container they also sell.

I've had hardwood floor guys come work on my floors in the past and they've all mentioned how shiny the floor is and have asked what product I use. They all said it was a great product.

A friend of mine got this stuff at the Better Living Store that works wonders. Her floors are clean and have a beautiful shine. It is called Bona and it cost about $40 and comes with a mop handle, 2 pads, and a bottle of spray. She swears by it. I always use Murphy's Oil soap. Good luck!

I use one part vinegar and one part warm water. I like the way it cleans and the floors are shiny when it dries. I was told by the people who put in the hardwoods that the less chemicals(hardwood cleaners) you put on the floor the better. Hope this helps!

I have always had good luck with vinegar and water -- about 2 cups vinegar to a gallon of warm water -- i'd sure like to hear the other ideas you have because the vinegar is a little stinky.

I work with someone whose husband lays hardwood floors and she says that the only way to clean hardwood floors is hot water. She says to wipe clean with one hand and then wipe dry with the other hand. I am not sure if this helps, but this is what her husband tells clients.

I use a few cups of White Vinegar and warm water. Works good and is cost efficient!

We like the almond scented "method" target brand cleaner. It's quick, easy, and smells good.

I use the swiffer wet clothes. It cleans pretty well and is quick, then I take off the wet cloth and scrub by hand with the already used cloth the tougher areas.

Hi Tracey,

I have hardwood floors throughout my house and I'm a home child care provider and I have 4 children of my own. So there is not a spot in my house that is not a "high traffic area". The only thing I have found to keep the floors clean is sweeping and mopping them all the time. In our house that is 3 times a day. I don't use any cleaners on the floor because I have babies that crawl around on them. I sweep and mop when the babies are down for nap. I have used a couple things but haven't found a product that I really love yet. I know I wasn't much help but good luck. Oh and it depends on any pets you may have, we have a 80 pound, yellow lab, he is a lap dog so he thinks and is only inside. All I can say is I have went through 3 mops and pads in 2 months. Lots ans lots of sweeping and mopping, W.
