baking soda and vinegar could do the job.
Help! I am cleaning above my cabinets, which are disgustingly dirty and apparently greasy from cooking. I have decorative wicker and metal baskets above that are also quite yucky. I am using an amazing product, called Greased Lightning, which gets most of it off. Do you think I can use it on the baskets? Any other cleaning tip I can use? They are coated with a film of grease and then dust on top. I don't even cook with oil or butter very often so I'm grossed out. Must need to clean up there more often...

I swear by simple green found at home depot it is a miracle cleaner!!!! It works like magic on all grease and it is NON TOXIC so you can clean all day and not worry about the smells. It cleans everything!!
I would try the Greased Lightning on them. Just a little spot at first. You are the only one looking up there. Don't worry about it. I'm sure any cleaning you do up there will be fine.

Greased Lightning is a great product and I have the same problem above my cabinets. The only difference is that I have antique glassware on top of my cabinets! The grease comes from the air circulating in your house. The greased lightning should be fine on the baskets. I would spray it on, let it sit a few minutes to break up the grease and then rinse it off. (You could probably do this in the bathtub easier, then use the shower to rinse) Good luck!
There is a product called Mela Magic which gets rid of grease it is really amazing. It never harms any surfaces either! (at least everything I have put it on including clothes!) and it is non toxic so you don't have to worry about fumes or even if a little one gets into it. It works for me!
