Classes for My Not Yet 3 Year Old

I was wondering what kinds of classes other moms have put their children into. My son is not three yet, and is not able to go to preschool at this time because of his age. But I have been thinking of trying to get him into a group or class to spend a little bit of time out of the house interacting with kids he does not know. We live in North Ridgeville so I was wondering if anyone has any contacts or info on classes around our area. Thank you!

You can contact Head Start (Lorain County Community Action Agency) They have an Early Childhood Program called Early Start. They have sessions in at their Oberlin site 2-3 times a week for a few hours. The phone number for the program is ###-###-####. I believe that's the correct Number....I haven't worked at the agency for going on 4 years now so i'm now sure. I put my oldest in the program and it helps out.

My daughter will soon be 3 but I am recommending checking out the libraries in your area. We're in North Olmsted but I've been taking her to Twinkle Tot programs at North Olmsted Library since her 1st year n she loves them. Best of all, they're FREE! The YMCA also has classes you can register for. We did the swimming class at 1 1/2 and she had loads of fun!

I am also in Noth Ridgeville, and my daughter is only 2 months old, so I don't know of any classes close by for a three year old. I am joining the city's Early Childhood PTA, which may be a good start. They have a temporary website (web.nrcs.k12.oh.us/parent_groups/early_childhood/home.htm), but it really doesn't provide much information. I found out that the meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 in the Middle School cafeteria on Center Ridge. The first for the year one is Sept. 4, so maybe that group would be able to provide some suggestions. If nothing else, I think they have playgroups or outings once a week, so the kids can socialize with each other. Hope that helps!

I am not sure how close Grafton is to you, but the have The Child Garden there and they offer a toddler play group up to 3 years old. You pay daily, $13 for a half day. It is a great way for your son you interact with other kids his own age. And since you pay daily they probably is no long term comitment.

I am looking around for the same thing! There is not much out there to do without parent participation, but I believe Fit By 5 in Westlake has some classes, My Gym in Westlake, and Bay Nursery in Bay VIllage. The Nature Center has great classes that involve the parent until age 3. The libraries also offer a lot of Storytimes as well... possibly some without parents?? Good luck! I'll be watching this thread for some ideas:)
