I really need to find a home church here in Dayton. It's been a long, long time since I've been because my two year old didnt' sleep through the night and I developed some very bad habits (staying up late..)

Where do you go to Church and why do you like it? (Baptist or Community Church)

What can I do next?

If you're still looking, I go to Spirit Life Church and love it. Spirit Life Church is non-denominational, the pastor is very funny and his sermons are challenging and the music is great. If you're looking for a Dayton church check out the Spirit Life website for some more info: www.spiritlifechurch.us

H.,
If you are looking for a church farther north, we attend Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City. I would ditto everything Elizabeth told you about Apex, including the 11:30 service! We also have just started a campus in north Dayton at Fort McKinley UMC. Ginghamsburg is very service/mission focused.

We are a United Methodist church but much more in line with a community church as far as philosophy and worship style. Happy church hunting! Let me know if you have more questions.

I also attend and recommend Ginghamsburg in Tipp City. From the first time I walked into the worship area, I felt like I was home. The church is very mission oriented and has an awesome youth program, keeping kids connected through high school and into college! The childrens activites seem great - our daughter is only 6 months and we just started taking her to the nursery a month or so ago, so we haven't had much exposure to them yet. Everything is very well organized. There is plenty for adults too. Childcare is available during all evening adult classes, so you don't have to worry about the kids. There is even a monthly scrapbooking crop for moms :-) Check out the website for more info: www.ginghamsburg.org or feel free to contact me.

Blessings,
A.

We have been going to Apex Community Church on Far Hills/Rt 48 for a couple of years. We LOVE it. The children's programs are excellent, the services are contemporary, come as you are, and are very relevant. We like thatservices are offered at a variety of times, from Saturday nights, earlier Sunday mornings and 11:30 on Sunday mornings. We hadn't gone for a while as well simply because it was so hard to get motivated early Sunday mornings. So we go to the 11:30 service and never feel rushed or tired. Please send a message if you have any questions or want any more info. I hope that you can find the right place for you and your kids. :)

My family attends Ginghamsburg in Tipp City, it is a United Methodist church....they have services on Saturday nights and Sunday morning...We like to go to the Sat. night service so we can sleep in on Sunday morning. They have wonderful minisrty for children, that is one of the reason I enjoy going and have continued to go , I have a two year old son. They have tons of fun things to do with the family. They are having a "Community Festival" on September 14th, 11am-3pm. It is a free event with tons of fun things to do for your children. There will be fun at a low cost. Hope this helps...let me know if you have anymore questions....

We attend Apex Community Church over on 48 in Kettering. We LOVE it! My husband is the gathering pastor there (leads the music), but even if he wasn't we would go there. It's very casual and easy to visit with your kids! Hope you find a good place that you and your family can love.

We attend Apex Community Church at 5200 Far Hills Ave, Kettering. You can check out the website at www.apexcommunity.net. I really feel that our body does a great job of finding community in the midst of large numbers. For more growth and connection, we have house churches that meet throughout the Dayton area and the weekend gatherings are just a coming together of these various house churches for a larger time of teaching and worship. We are affiliated with the Southern Baptists but it feels more like a community church. For your staying up late habits, we do have Saturday evening services. :) Hope that helps! Feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have!

We started at Apex and loved it, also. But the focus on house churches didn't work well with our schedule or with our little one. Then we found Southbrook and ADORE it. www.southbrook.org. You can listen to some of the sermons online. I like how it is both very biblical and very relevant, plus contemporary. It's a "seeker friendly" church. They offer great programs for all ages and an excellent women's ministry that includes Beth Moore Bible Studies (if you've never taken one, I highly recommend them!)... and "churchcare" for kids during services that's very professional and safe and fun for the kids. The church just moved to a new building on Washington Church Road behind the Dayton Mall, it's beautiful.

The service times are Saturday at 5:30 pm, Sunday at 9:30 am or 11:15 am. Plus they are starting a "First Wednesdays" series on September 3rd from 7-8:30 pm. No childcare provided Wed. nights, though. We are moving to New Mexico in October and have to say that this church is one of the reasons I'm sad to leave Ohio.

Our pastor is starting a church plant in the Englewood area, we are affiliated with the Grace Brethren churches. Our pastor is young and does a very good job relating the Bible to people of all ages. We have a good childrens program that is growing. Check out our website: http://www.thegraceconnection.net/

I have to share that SouthBrook, in Miamisburg is an awesome church with a great children's program!!!!!! We love it there! We have been attending for two years! What attracted me was the children's programs, but I fell in love with the adult church! The music is phenominal and the sermons are even better than the music! Very relevant! Hope to see you there!!
