You will be surprised what a chiropractor can do for you. Mine saved me from having a very expensive surgery and I have been pain free for almost a year. Research the chiropractors in your area. They are wonderful people.
Hi all I manage fibromyalgia and chronic pain not otherwise specified. My psychiatrist gave me a generalized title of a book to look into. It's something along the lines of 'The Living with Chronic Pain Workbook.' Has anyone used workbooks or have any recommendations of books in general that have helped them manage their life? Thank you. :) I understand people praise chiropractors however due to my issues they actually cause me more pain. I will never again return to a chiropractor due to this.

I was given the fibro diagnosis as well, but it just doesn't seem to fit everything. I go online as well, and haven't tried any books. I'm currently seeing a chiro, and honestly it helps some but not as much as the one I was seeing before moving to WA last July. I'm currently seeing a physical therapist hoping to get some help - my pain is mostly in my lower back and shoulders. One thing that has helped a great deal is taking a vitamin D supplement. I am severely deficient and the symptoms mimic fibromyalgia and autoimmune disorders - so get it check out - chances are you are deficient - especially living here in WA! Honestly, it stopped the trigger point pain, the muscle pain, the headaches, and the blurry vision. I'm still not at the normal range but I'm not as horribly low as I was. At any rate, it won't hurt to take a supplement and it may help out a lot :)
I don't use books. I've just researched online and asked doctors how to deal with it. My chiropractor has been a great source of info. (Well, him and his massage therapists! I love those ladies!)
I also have done acupuncture. It helped quite a bit! The brain fog is the biggest thing I have issues with. Today it's horrible. (I've been writing this for 10 minutes now...ugh, stupid fibro fog!)
Like I said, try doing some Google searches and that will help, too!
Chiropractic care is not for everyone. Have you considered Acupuncture? I am an Acupuncturist and I see and hear every day I go to work, how much it helps people.
My husband has dealt with chronic pain, though not due to fibromyalgia, and has had remarkable results. A number of friends of mine have gotten rid of their fibromyalgia pain and swear by it! Fibromyalgia is made worse by stress, and although some people use chiropractors and acupuncturists and so on, if it's not for you, don't feel pressured. It's not the only way. Living with pain isn't an appropriate solution, in my mind. There are some patented products in the food science field that help thousands of people. There's great research and there are great success stories you can connect with - PM me for more info if that's the route you want to go.
