I am waiting for the Dr. to call with results of some blood tests to rule out lime disease. I am wondering if any moms on here have fibromyalgia. This is the diagnose she is leaning towards. The pain just does not go away! Reading up on diets and meds that are used. Any mom s have their own healthy way of dealing with this and want to share?? Thanks!

Absolutely! You can do the meds but they don't take care of the problem, only help deal with the pain, and even that not so well. I have many colleagues and friends who use nutritional supplements - you have to commit to it but it works. Let me know if you want more info and I will share in greater detail. This is patented nutrition (so it's safe, effective and unique) and you can't find it in stores because the company wants you to get the support you need. I would be happy to help you and connect you by phone to some others so you can hear how this worked for them. I am a nutritional consultant and I've been doing this for 3 years, helping people get health results.

I have it.......you will find out that there are good days and bad days........

If you have Fibromyalgia your doctor should send you to I think it's an internist....there are like 18 pressure points that are tender with fibro......they will push on them and get responses from you, they push in a bunch of places, but some are pressure areas..............if you have over 11 I think you qualify..........

They put me on Lyrica......it worked great, except, I gained weight.........and I'm diabetic, so I couldn't stay on it..........my blood sugar went up! Due to the gaining weight.........I know they have come out with something else, but me not working, has helped me A LOT.......unfortunately, I have to go back to work soon.

Hang in there and good luck......I've found that some of the heat/cold rubs work.......give that a try..........

Did they check your Vit D levels that is a cause of widespread pain?

I have it and my dr put me on metocarbamol and suggested 1mg of melotonin to help me sleep. I have noticed the days I get better sleep I feel a little better and I get more stiff later in the day instead of earlier. He also suggested that I do yoga. I can't do the yoga it makes me hurt worse the following days. The only thing that I do about dealing with it is to do everything that I would normally do. I'm not going to let some disease wreck my life.

Hi D.,

I am a mother of 2 (ages 2 & 4) and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1994. I was on all sorts of different pain medications and went through physical therapy, etc for the pain until I discovered acupuncture. Because of the acupuncture, changes in my diet, and exercise I have been off the heavy duty pain meds for almost 10 years now and can manage any occasional flare-ups with just Advil. The challenge with fibromyalgia is figuring out your triggers and a way to deal with them which is not always easy as a mom (my triggers are lack of sleep, stress, my period, humidity, and cold). Through my experience with acupuncture, I actually went back to school & got my masters in acupuncture. While I'm not currently practicing acupuncture at the moment as I'm home with my kids right now, I'd be more than happy to talk to you further about it and what has helped me over the years. Hang in there, you'll have some good days & bad days and be frustrated but you'll get through.

Denise had it right about the pressure points, but the specialist that performs this is a rheumatoidologist. I do have it and it was diagnosed by that specialist. I was also put on Lyrica and it definitely helped a lot in the beginning. I also gained weight, but it is slowly coming off now. You only gain weight if you eat more than normal. Lyrica cranks up your appetite so you do want to eat more. I'm getting it back under control thankfully.

Lately it seems that it's not working as great as it did initially. I almost hate to say anything for fear that they will take me off it and I'm afraid of how I will fee without it.

But you're right D.. If you do have it, the pain doesn't go away. You learn to live with it. It sucks though, lol. Good luck, keep us posted.

A rheumatologist tested me for everything when my upper limbs were in constant pain and the muscles were very weak. He diagnosed it as polymyalgia because there were not enough pressure points to make it fibromyalgia. It continued for a long time until a doctor tested my Vitamin D level. The results reported to be low normal levels, but the belief now among most doctors is that the levels recommended is placed too low. My doctor immediately put me on a prescription supplement for a high dosage of Vitamin D once a week for 8 weeks. Vitamin D does not just pass through your system as does Calcium and other supplements if you have too much of it. It actually took 3 weeks before I noticed a difference. After the 8 weeks of supplement were completed, I have daily taken Vitamin D over the counter supplements. My muscles have been normal ever since and that was about 5 years ago. A high percentage of people in New England have a Vitamin D deficiency and are unaware of it. Vitamin D is very important and can help combat many illnesses. We can get Vitamin D naturally from the sun. New England does not get that much sun over the year and when we are not covering our bodies with a lot of clothing, we are covering it with sunblock to prevent skin cancer. You may want to have your Vitamin D level checked. Hopefully, you may have a simple solution to improving your health.

I have a customer who swears by our product...Juice Plus. it is fruits, veggies and berries in a capsule or gummie form. Nothing else. regulated by the FDA as food. Helps bridge the gap between what you should eat and what you do eat. Been around for 17 years developed by a naturopath who juiced for years and wanted to bring an easier way for the general populations to reap the rewards without the costs and mess.

Hi D.
My friends Eileen and Ssndra each suffered for years w Fibromyalgia and went the med route with little or no success. They took food supplements from Reliv and have been living pain free ever since. I'd be happy to connect u with them to see what they did.

My mom has it, so I've done some research on it (that she doesn't follow by the way). In any case, I've heard that an Alkaline diet really helps with inmune diseases, such as Fibromylagia. You also need to mantain low stress levels if you want anything to work.
Good luck!

I have had Fibromyalgia for years. I hate it when it is acting up. i can't lean against the wall or on a table edge or anything. My pressure points hurt so much.

One thing I have found that works well is ice. I put ice in a plastic bag and wrap it in a lightweight towel and lean against it for about 20 minutes then move it around. Another way of using ice is to freeze water in a Styrofoam cup, when you want to use it peel away the edges until you have the hump exposed. Water swells as it freezes and pushes upward in the cup. Have someone rubs your painful areas with the ice until it feels better.

Cold water in a pool also helps.

Cool/cold reduces inflammation, heat makes the muscles relax. Fibromyalgia is inflammation.
