I am a 52 yr old female raising my 10 yr old GRANDdaugter. (her mom, my daughter, passed away a few months ago.) I am looking to rent a home in the Peoria area...preferable in senior housing area, I am looking for a Christian school for my granddaughter, and a Christian summer camp, preferable one that is NOT overnight. My income is extremely low(600 a month), I am on "section 8 housing", and I am in a wheelchair. Can anyone help with these issues?? I would TRULY be ever so greatful. I am brand new to the area. I came from Iowa to Peoria to raise my grand daughter after the funeral, and I know NO ONE here at all. I currently live here in Peoria, Arizona, and would prefer to stay in this area since it is the only home my grand daughter knows, and she has had enough of major changes for a little while.I would be forever greatful for your expert advice! :-)

Welcome to the area! I am sorry it is under such unfortunate circumstances. I and my family are also new to the area. We moved here from Wisconsin on March 20. I would love to meet you and perhaps I can provide an afternoon from time to time so that you can have a break. I have two children ages 2 and 1 and I also work with an international wellness company from home. My husband is a manager at Subway and is looking for a job that will utilize his culinary degree. We visited a church in Surprise (not very far from Peoria) last week that is very friendly. We are visiting a church in Goodyear (where we live - on the South West outskirts of Phoenix) this week, but we might be going back to the one in Surprise. The name of the church is Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and is located at 14650 W Bell Rd, Surprise, 85374 - ###-###-#### - I'm sure the pastor there could help you find a Christian School and day camp.
When we were looking for places to live, we found several we were interested in on the North West outskirts of Phoenix, but we do not qualify for section 8 and could not rent there. I'd be happy to send you the links if you are interested.
Also, since I do not know many people in the area, I plan to invite some of my neighbors and their friends to an afternoon tea. Would you and your granddaughter like to come? I have not picked a day or time yet.

the above is a web link for section 8 housing in Arizona. I don;t know if this will be helpful to you, but it may be worth the research. Also, adult communities require a minimum age of 55 and no children. I wish I could be of more help. Take care!
I know of a Christian School close to Cactus and 83rd Ave. I just am not sure of the name of the school. It is by First Baptist Church of Peoria. My Pastors children go there and they are real happy with it. I am not sure about a summer camp though, but they may know or call a church close to you and they may have some ideas. I do child care in my home but I only do it at night. I wish I could help you more.
