New to Area, Tying to Find....

Hi M. and welcome to the area. I have a pediatric group that I use for both of my children, my son is 8 and my daughter is almost 2. Arrowhead Pediatrics, I think they are great, if my kids are sick I can always get a same day appointment and all of the doctors we have seen seem to be very thorough. Hi I don't know about the daycares since my kids are older but when I moved here in 2000 I found a gread doctor for my kids the name is Phoenix Pediatrics they have 2 locations one on 19th Ave and Glendale (just south of Glendale) and one on Union Hills. Please please please call Cactus Childrens Clinic. They are amazing. ###-###-#### We se Dr Ojha. The nurse pract. we love are Bethany and Christy. I really love that office. I had moved here last year and this was the second office we saw and have been going every since. Good Luck.

Also, Dr Vargas is also very good.

i live right in the same area I have a great pediatrician that Phoenix Children Hospital referred me too and she is wonderful It is Great Destinations Pediatrics the Dr is Dr Karen Prentice number is ###-###-#### they are at 79th Ave and Union Hills. The day care I love that also does Preschool and Pre Kindergarten is Kindercare I have also used Tutor Time with my Step Daughter but at Tutor Time I did not like there disapline or there teaching "If you want to do the work you can if not you don't do it" Kindercare is set up alot different they work with each parent My so is autistic and they work with him and they are willing to learn sign and everything to deal with him its wonderful and the teachers there are great my son has been there since he was 7 months old and now he is 2 1/2 my sisters are teachers andused the day care for Pre k and preschool and they loved it they have a great learning program there that is great. It is located at Lake Pleasant Parkway and 83rde Ave There number is ###-###-#### the director is Stephanie and she is great. I hope this helps And for you Northwest Valley health Associates is great they are located at 94th Ave and Thunderbird I see Dr THompson and he is great diffenately old school he remembers all patients and will talk to you and make sure that if your not happy he will fix it hes awesome the best i have ever had his number is ###-###-#### And a womens dr Desert West OBGYN is great they have made me very comfortiable and Dr Koon is good that is the one I have been using for 4 years now they are located at 55th ave and Eugie ( south of Thunderbird) there number is ###-###-#### I hope all this will help you out If you need anything else feel free to email me ____@____.com Good luck

Hi, M.! Welcome to Arizona. I have a couple of suggestions for you. Great Destinations Pediatrics is on 79th Ave. just south of Union Hills. The office is great and I absolutely love Dr. Kristin Shepherd. They have several other docs in the office that are good, too.
My son attends Work of Heart preschool on 77th Ave and Thunderbird. It is on the grounds of Peoria Nazarene chuch. The school and the teachers are phenomenal!!! I am sorry I can't help you out with childcare. I just lost my sitter and my parents are helping me out.

Looks like you are getting lots of information. My kids are seen at Great Destinations. I have never had a problem with them. If they are sick and need to be seen, I have always been able to get an appointment for that day. I have also heard good thing about Arrowhead Pediatrics, too. My advice. . .Shop around. Find someone who you and your baby are comfortable with. Good luck and welcome to Arizona.

Hi M., I am also in the Arrowhead area, welcome! Both of my kids attended preschool at Valley Learning Center at 75th Ave. and Deer Valley and had a great time. Their number is ###-###-####. They now attend La Petite at 67th Ave. and the 101 for before/after school care, but they also have a good preschool program. Their number is ###-###-####. The directors and both places are wonderful. As for pediatricans, our primary peditrician is Dr. Kennedy at Northwest Clinic for Children, ###-###-####, she is great but so are all of the doctors there. They are at 35th Ave. and Greenway. I live up in Anthem, which is about 20 minutes from Arrowhead. I have a wonderful pediatrician up here, names Dr. Yip. He is with Angel Pediatrics. There are 3 doctors in this office, but he is my favorite. Dr. Santos (in same office) is pretty nice too. I have a 12 month old daughter, with whom I delivered at Arrowhead Hospital. If you need a ob-gyn, Dr. Erickson is the guy to go to. However, he is extremely busy. I have to schedule a month in advance to get into him. The night I went into labor, he was not on call, so another doctor was going to deliver my baby. He called, and told the nurses to call him if I was getting close, because he wanted to be the one to deliver my little girl. I have a wonderful daycare lady up here, but it would definitely be out of the way to come up here every day. I hope this helps! Welcome to Arizona!

Desert Heights Charter school and preschool is a wonderful school. My son is in second grade there. They are on Beverly (south of Bell) just east of 59th Ave. You can check them out on the web. Just google Desert Heights Charter School. As for a doctor, I recommend Cactus Children's Clinic on Thunderbird between 59th and 51st Ave. All the doctors are awesome but I like Dr. Michael the best. Dr Secaur at Arrowhead Pediatrics is fabulous

I love my children's pediatrician--Dr. Stephen West at Cactus Childrens Clinic. His office is on 55th Avenue and Thunderbird ###-###-####) I have 1 year old twins, and I have had only good experiences with his office.

hi M. i have an in home sitter/preschool teacher she is absolutley wonderful. great with the kids and very structured. her hours are from 6:30am to 4:30 pm tues.- fri. and she charges $100 per week. her name is tammy her # is ###-###-####. tell her jill referred you. good luck!!!

Can't help out in the preschool/daycare need, but as far as an awesome pediatrician try Great Destinations Pediatrics(www.gdpeds.com). They have an adorable train theme throughout the office, but more importantly the doctors are great. Plus, the entire staff is very helpful and friendly. They're right near Arrowhead... 79th Ave just south of Union Hills.

I am also a previous New Mexico native. I have lived in Glendale for about 25 years, so yes, I am old enough to be your mom. Arrowhead area has some nice day care places, I am sure. There should be a GREAT BEGINNINGS close to where you live, I think it is off the 101 loop and Union Hills (their website is www.greatbeginning.org; a christian preschool and childcare--not sure if it makes a difference to you). And of course the TutorTime places which are all over the valley. I have not used any in such a long time. I do remember KinderCare and I was not impressed by them and I'm not sure if they have improved over the years. As for pediatricians, you might want to check out Arrowhead Pediatrics which is close to your area. My kids went to Cactus Children's Clinic and I liked them. They are still around and are off Thunderbird and 53rd Ave. I hope this helps you in some way. I just want to welcome you to the valley. Welcome to sunny Arizona. I can't refer you to any pre-schools, because I am a SAHM. Although, I too will be looking at some sort of pre-school for my soon to be 4 yr. old. As far as Pediatrician's, I started out with Arrowhead Pediatrics which is located on the outskirts of Arrowhead Hospital. 623-561-kids. Our son first saw Dr. Yip after he was born and I loved him. When Dr. Yip left the practice to retire for a little while, we then saw Dr. Secaur, who is also wonderful. NONE of the other Doctors at that office did I like nor care for. I just recently moved to Care Free area, and discovered that Dr. Yip has his own practice again that is located in Anthem called Angel Pediatrics. So, I now take my two children there. My kids are almost 4 and going to be 1 in March. I can't say enough about Dr. Yip! He really listens to you and he is so gentle with the children. Now onto a Dr. for you, I have been going to Dr. Marvin Erickson at Arrowhead Hospital for 9 years now. I started out with another obgyn there, who has since left. So, really I've been a patient there for 13 years. ###-###-####. Dr. Erickson has also made it quite clear that only he would deliver my babies, even if he is not on call. He has kept his word. He is a very nice family man. I also have other friends,(actually alot of friends) who also go to that office. Some of them see Dr. Erickson, others see Dr. Mckernan, and Dr. Bass. I have heard that they are wonderful too. Good luck!
