My own daughter is 5ft 3in and weighs 70 pounds. She eats like a horse. So it could be she is just a small framed child.
I would ask Dad if she is eating OK and if he has taken her to the pediatrician, she'll need a well child checkup soon anyway. Also she'll need to start her Gardisal shots so that could be your excuse of he balks at the idea, tell him she has a vaccine she needs but you aren't sure when they give it. They get it at 11 or 12 usually.
If she has always been little, she is probably ok. Doesn't hurt ot check it out though.
my daughter is almost 6 and is about 45" tall and just hit 40lbs. if she is only 4' tall then i wouldn't worry about it so much she could just be thin. but if she is closer to 5' that seems a little too thin. but check her curve. if she is still steady on the growing curve then she should be ok. both of my kids are on the petite side and the dr told me not to worry about their weight as long as they grew steady on the curve and didn't fall back. if you could, i would definitely talk to her dad. how did you find out her weight? di d she tell you or her father? if he mentioned it, he might be concerned also.
My son is 4 foot 8 inches and weighs about 65 pounds and is thin. I agree with others that it seems quite low.
my 3 yr old is 38in tall and weighs 32 pounds... my 5 yr old is closer to 4 ft and only weighs 39 pounds... my boys are both under the average for weight and height, but the dr isn't concerned... they are healthy and their height to weight ratio is good.
My daughter is 9 and she weighs 85lbs.
You should go and see her and have a Dr. take a look at her.
God bless.
My son is 7, just had his annual check up. He is 4' 2" and weighs 50 lbs, which is considered to be in the 50 percentile for his age/height.
I don't know about 9 year olds but my 6 year old is 4'3" and 51lbs. He's taller than most of his classmates and thin.

I typed in most of your info and website says she is UNDERWEIGHT and should be seen by a healthcare provider. She's in the lower 5% of all kids her age/gender.
Is it heredity though? My son is in the lower 10% but is quite healthy and eats well (he's almost two years old). I know that at age 9, tv and friends at school can give her a bad self-image. Not sure if she's doing this to herself or if she's just that way. I was a skinny little thing all through school but I ate well every day.
Not that it's a good thing, but Texas (I think Houston and/or San Antonio) are the fattest cities in the U.S. So perhaps she'll put on some weight the more Mexican food she starts to eat here. Yes, I'm being humorous. I'm sorry. Come to Texas and visit her mom! Spring Break is around the corner!
Ask your pediatrician.
I think, that is underweight..
have you talked to her Dad about it?
Are you also concerned about her care there in Texas?
Do you have any relatives there, who can see her/visit her?
Or can you visit her?
I would, talk to her Dad about it... and see how she is eating, or if she has eating issues. Sometimes girls as young as this, do have eating issues... or think they have to lose weight.
I would, try to get an idea about her health/eating/care/weight... and see if it needs to be addressed.
Does her Dad take her to the Doctor? He perhaps should take her in for an annual... or to check her weight. See what the Doctor ways.
All the best,
Susan
