funflatibles in Dyer, IN is great! There is also a place in Crown Point I have heard good things about, but I have never been.

Check with your local park district. We had our daughter's 3rd bday party in their gymnastics room, lead by a coach, and all the kids loved it. This year we're doing a beach-themed party at the community center, with their party coordinator running games and stuff. Both options were pretty reasonably priced. I like to go with something that will be run by someone else so that I can enjoy the party with my child!

Greetings! At that age...any of the Burger Kings or MacDonalds that have play areas for the children...anything more elaborate should be savored for an older age where they will remember. Merrillville and Shererville have some great facilities. Have a blessed day! di

My daughter will turn 4 in June and I was thinking of having her party at Build A Bear...I don't know if you have one near you, but I thought it would be a cute idea.

Otherwise Chuckee Cheese is always a hit with kids. Good luck to you and I hope you find something that works! :o)

Jump Zone in Crown Point, Jump Central in St. John, Michaels craft store in Merr. or Valpo. They have a separate room and the kids all do a craft. McDonalds, Chuck E. Cheese, bowling - with the bumpers. Justice & Libby Lou do parties. They are geared for a little older though and Libby Lou is closing at the end of January. Patty's Gymnastics in Dyer does parties.

Good luck!

We went to a child's birthday party at a "jumpy" place. You rent the place/space for a certain amount of time and, I think, they provided the cake. The one I went to was on Route 30, but I know there is another one in St. John somewhere. Good luck.

Jump Central in St. John, IN is a great place to host a birthday party. They are family owned and operated by 2 local mom's and have a variety of party packages available to suit all budgets.

Hi K.,

You can check out www.kidwinks.com, and click on the Services tab at the top. In the Services section, you'll see categories along the left and can click on Kids Party Services, and then Party Places. I don't know if they have any in INdiana, but there may be some close enough to you. If you're a member and signed in (membership is free), you can sort the search results in order of distance from your house.

Good luck!

I agree with Diane C. At that age they get over-stimulated, too. With the economy the way it is I would suggest having a party at your house so people don't feel they have to supply a big gift to make up for the expense you are putting out.

Also, if you start big now you will always feel the need to keep out-doing yourself and that even puts pressure on other parents to do as much as you and the other parents.

I always did parties at home. I would find one cute little craft that was age-appropriate for them to do. (Oriental Trading Co. is a godsend - or Family Fun magazine has great ones, too.) And then a game of pin the tail on the donkey or bozo buckets would allow for drying of the item or more fun and then gifts & cake and ice cream. I would have about an hour and a half or two at the most and then they would be ready for pick up.

We still have some of the great craft items on display and my girls loved the quality time they spent with their friends.

Hi K.,
My daughter works at the Painted Penguin in Southlake Mall. They have wonderful supervised parties with options with cake and pizza. Each child picks out a an item to paint - which everything is supplied - and leaves with the item. The parties are pretty popular, they have them all the time. It might be something to look into. I believe it's pretty affordable also.
Good luck,
P.
