My cousin from Northeren Missouri is coming down for the weekend with the kids and after 30 years of living in KC I would love some help on where we can all go. She was asking about fun and inexpensive places for the whole family. The kids are between the ages of 7 months and 10 years. I would love extra brainstorming ideas. Thanks you so much for all of your time and help.

What can I do next?

Up North we have a place called AirZone. It is an indoor play place with the large bouncy party inflatables...wow, we always have a great time playing there. Even the adults (especially the men) enjoy playing and climbing! And what a workout too! :) It is always very clean and the staff has always been very friendly on our visits. There is also a baby/toddler mini area where my 8 month old nephew had a ball playing! The website is www.airzonekidz.com if you want to check that one out specifically.
Also, we had family in and recently all went out to Dave & Busters on a Thursday night. It was very kid AND adult friendly. They have a package - "eat & play" that is fairly reasonable...you get a meal (and we thought a pretty good meal...I had the chicken parmesan meal and it was excellent) for $15 and with that came a $10 game card. So, basically my meal was only $5.99. The games range in how much they are. But, we played games for about an hour and a half I think...which was plenty. I am not sure how much they are on the weekends (meal wise). But, you could always go eat at the McDonalds or someplace reasonable first and then go there.
Oh and the drive in's around here just opened up-not sure if it would be warm enough yet for that but that sure is a lot of fun!
I will write back in if I think of more but that is fun stuff we have done and it hasn't been too terribly expensive and the kids have had a BLAST and it has been fairly fun for the adults too. :) Too bad it isn't summer...much more options when it is warm outside.
HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY! :)

I have 4 younger sisters and cousins between 6-10 that love to go out around town and Crown Center can be a great time. The ice skating rink just closed but kids always love Kaleidoscope. It's free and a very fun atmosphere for that age. They have lots of crafty, fun stuff. They have family session each afternoon at 2:50 and one every hour on Saturday. In Crown Center on the bottom level they have a "what fo you want to be" exhibit that is very cute. It would not be a very long activity but you can walk into about 20 little areas of different careers to try them out. WIth imagination, they would probably really enjoy it. They can be an go into space, be a bull rider, the President, a surfer, teacher...
We also go to are parks around town alot. There are some great fun ones all over town.
If they want to see a movie, the Independence movie theater is 5 dollars per person every weekday/night (I think it is an AMC but it is across the street from Independence Center).
Last time we went( a long time ago) the zoo was cheaper on Tuesdays. I also check out the KC Star website for weekly family activities. Hope this helps! Have fun!

L.,

You might try Crown Center. Hallmark cards used to fund a kids activity center in the bottom floor of Crown Center shops. I'm not sure if there is a charge.....there didn't used to be. I worked the night shift last night, so my brain is a little foggy this morning, but if you call Crown Center, they should be able to give you the particulars.

Hope this helps,
J.

Try the Kansas City Zoo. Catch a twilight hour movie or rent some movies & have movie & or game night. My children & I get together & go bowling or skating as well. We will pop some pop corn, buy soda's & candy & go rent or buy movies & make it a family movie night. The Nelson Musem is always nice too. I hope this has helped you out or given you some type of ideas. Good luck & God Bless!

This is a site you can go on the internet & look for activities that are happening in the KC area. I use this frequently to come up with ideas of what to do this weekend...

http://www.visitkc.com/visitor_info/visitor_info_home.cfm

When you go to this site go to the Kansas City Events Calendar & fill in the dates you are looking for. I just did it & for 3-26 to 4-2 there are 101 activities. You do have to sort thru them to find age group friendly things, but it's a great place to start your search at least. Have a wonderful time!
