I'm on the NW side of GR, does anyone know where I can take my kids to get cheap pumpkins that they can pick out? I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 14 month old. Thanks!

What can I do next?

There is a wonderful pumpkin patch here in Kentwood. It's called Orchard Hill and is located on 68th St just East of Kalamazoo. They have pumpkins you can purchase, a free hay ride, and all sorts of animals; goats, deer, chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, lamb, etc. They even have a corn maze. They have a little store that's in a barn where you can purchase cider and donuts and find all sorts of neat things as well as a live bee's hive encased in glass. During this time of year they even have a tent set up with different kid friendly spooky (not really that spooky) rooms inside it that tell different spooky stories. This is all for free and is a lot of fun. My son's preschool class is actually taking a field trip there next week. If you can make it out this way, take a look. Can't beat free.

There's a good one at Alpine and 7th Mile

We go to Moelker's Orchard. It is on Kenowa Ave, near where Wilson Ave. and 28th street meet. I'm not sure if its Grandville or Standale. This year, we picked out 4 pumpkins of various sizes and spent $8 total, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. We really like this orchard and plan to continue to visit them every year. They are very nice people.

We couldn't find cheap pumpkins at a patch. We took our kids to Country Basket on Alpine and 9 mile. I love it there. There are so many things to do for free. They have a tunnel slide, corn in a sandbox, animals, a fake cow to milk, a hay maze, etc. We let them experience that and then we got our pumpkins at Aldi on Alpine. They are huge, fat pumpkins for $1.99. They are the same size as the $8 pumpkins at the patch. I know it isn't the same as picking them in the patch, but my kids didn't really care after they were done playing. They also have a cute cow train for the kids to ride there. It is $2 a ride.

Have fun!

We go to a farm house on Peach Ridge off of 6 mile. They have all sizes for very reasonable prices. Good Luck!
