I can usually get a cheap getaway just about anywhere with priceline. My husband and I usually use priceline if we don't care where we're spending the night but we have a destination that we want to go to for things to do (for just us or family trips). If we want a romantic weekend getaway, we usually look up hotels, B&B's, lodges, etc with whirlpool tubs or hot tubs, then we try to look up deals for a couple of those places online and go with the cheapest one. We don't usually care about the location as much as the hotel at that point. There's usually SOMEthing to do semi-close for when we want to get out, but we usually like to just stay in most of the time, and just get out for meals. We take cards, a few games, some candles, bath stuff, and a cooler filled with drinks and stuff for breakfast and lunch, that way we only have to pay for dinners out (or order in).
Send me a message if you'd like some help.
We have a family of 6 and just got back yesterday from a family trip to Orlando that cost us just under $2500. That included food (also Arabian Knight tickets - 4), airline tickets (for the whole family), 7 day Disney tickets (2 adults 2 kids - base, not park hopper...not needed for our trip), 4 Universal 2 day Islands of adventure tickets, and 2 Holy Land Experience tickets, rental cars, shuttles services and tips AND accommodations. (Souvenirs cost an extra $300, but that was money that came from Granny and Grandma for everyone for Valentine's Day and it was supposed to all be spent on souvenirs).
I just search the internet over for the absolute best deals on everything. I'm a SAHM with 4 kids, and we live on an extremely tight budget. This was the biggest trip we've ever taken. We usually drive everywhere, but we found such great deals for flying for this trip and took them. We all went to DC, PA, & NY City last summer for a wedding and made it a 12 day trip and only spent about $1000 on that trip (everything included - w/ gas). One of the biggest keys is bringing your OWN food for most of the meals and only dining out once a day at the most. We never stay in hotels or suites that aren't a 3 or 4 star, either. We always have very nice accommodation's. We stayed in resorts and a 4 points Sheraton at Universal this past trip, and our last trip we stayed at only Marriots for the 11 nights. Priceline's awesome!, and when I don't get from priceline, I find awesome deals online for (including attractions and dining coupons).
HTH! Let me know if I can help any further.
