I know of several men who had vasectomys grow back...don't feel bad it could happen with a tubal too! you could take one of those early detecting pregnancy tests.
My husband had a vascetomy after our second son, back in December 04! I am curious of the chances of being pregnant now. My boobs are extremely tender. I don't have any other symptoms though. I am not due to start my period for another week. Another thing that struck me is that this morning while drinking my Diet DP (which I do every morning)it burned all the way to my stomach and then made my stomach hurt! That is the same way it was when I found out I was pregnant with my second child.
I took a test and it was negative! I am thankful, but I had come to the conclusion that if I were pregnant it was meant to be! My husband felt the same way. We are very content with the 2 boys we have :) Thanks for all the help and suggestions! I am definitely thinking he might need a check up to make me feel better!

Take it from me - the mother of two following a vasectomy - IT CAN HAPPEN! Did he go in after the procedure for a follow-up to make sure it worked? Does hes have regular check ups? My fool ex never did and found out he had a third tube (the first thing he did was accuse me of cheating and the marriage just went downhill from there). And he was fertile from day one. But the girls look just like him, one even has his identical birthmark. Good luck, and make sure he gets checked out - he can go to Planned Parenthood if he cant go back to the original Dr.
I would say the chances are slim to none at this point. Within the first few weeks after a vasectomy, then it MIGHT be possible if you don't wait the amount of time the doctor says without using protection, too. But over 4 years later, I seriously doubt it. It is probably just PMS especially being a week before your period is expected. The symptoms can be so similar to early pregnancy, as you already know. However, if your period is way late, I would definitely test with a HPT just in case. There are always weird exceptions when it comes to the human body!
Go to drug store n get a pg test
If you're concerned and don't want to wait, get an HPT. I think it's been pretty well demonstrated that a vasectomy is not 100%, although chances may be less likely after 4 years. I'm an obsessive tester myself, and both my kids showed up + at least a week before period was due, so you might be able to find out now (But I wouldn't take a - as a sure sign that you're not.) It could just be though that as you're getting older that your hormones are acting differently and that these are just symptoms of your impending period.
A., i don't know what the odds are but i know it happens, way more often, i think, than folks realize. I have seen couples where this happened and the husband was SURE that the wife had cheated till the Dr. confirmed that something had come "untied". If figure if you get pregnant after a vascetomy, that the Lord has decided you should have that child.....who knows! R.
It's my understanding that vasectomy patients need an annual recheck to be sure they are still sterile. Risk of them failing is still very low, but most cases are caught with the rechecks.
As I type this I am looking down at my 4-mo-old son- born after vasectomy failed. But mine happened right after, within a year. Definitely take a test, or contact your doctor.
I have heard of repairing after having a vascetomy which my son just did and it worked and once I remember hearing about a man that was going to divorce him wife because he had one and she was pregnant but it turned to be his so you might want to get tested to see if you are or get him tested either way it is a mess you might just want to be pregnant and have symptons [sorry about the spelling] good luck
A.,
I have also heard that right around 4-5 years the hubby needs to get retested because of the likelihood that it could become untied right around that time frame. I would do both - get hubby and you tested and that way you'll know for sure. But it's not 100%, it's 99% effective; more effective than the pill, but still there are those few outliers...
Good luck!
Hi A.,
I had a friend whose hubby got a V after 4 kids and about 6 yrs (guessing) later she got pregnant again. Needless to say the hubby was very upset and the Dr. told them that a V is about 4 times more likely to reverse itself than a Hyster...
If your symptoms are the same as a previous pregnancy, you might want to get a test just to let you know for sure.
Good Luck

I had the same issue a few years after my husband's vasectomy - my breasts suddenly became very tender, and they stayed extremely tender - until I started my period. That had never happened to me before, so it must be something that can happen as we get older (they are almost always tender to some extreme the week before now).
But I had the same concern as you - "Did the vasectomy fail?". I obviously can't tell you if you are pregnant or not, but I can tell you some odd things can happen to our bodies that have never happened before! Good luck either way!
Edit: Just saw that Jill said the same thing - sorry for the repeat! =)
A.,
i had a tubal ligation in 2003.
ive had 3 pregnancies since having the procedure done if god wants u to have more children it ll happen .
thats great sweety good luck to your family.
A.,
I have several friends who got pregnant years after their husbands has been "clipped". In one case it was a blessing because their youngest child had just died and in the other, their marriage broke up because he accused her of having an affair. So yes, you can get pregnant after he has had a vasectomy...all it takes is one little fellow to get out of there and bingo!
