T.K.
This has probably been answered, but just in case. It's possible to get pregnant after a vasectomy, but statistically it only happens 1% of the time and is due to regeneration of the vas deferens tissue.
My husband had a vasectomy about 18 months ago. We took in the sample after the appropriate time and had it tested and was told he was now officially sterile. I am now 2 1/2 weeks late and wondering if I could be pregnant. Does anyone know what the likelyhood of this is? I haven't been with anyone else, and I am usually pretty regular with my cycle. I am only 31 years old, but we have three children and were pretty set with that number. I do not have any other symptoms, but I am still scared.

It could be anything...stress, exercise, etc don't worry until you have other symptoms. take a test if it will make you feel better. But, yes, you can get prego after he has a V. It has happened that it grows back. Good luck!
My husband had one after our second child and was supposed to pick up a cup and drop off a sample every couple months to make sure the tubes had not grown back together. I have irregular periods, but go ahead and take a pregnancy test anytime I go a while without one just to make sure. I'd suggest taking a test just to give you some peace of mind. You might want to also check with his doc about getting a sample checked. Seems odd that they wouldn't have him get checked every couple months.
Since I have Prayed Hard for this to happen to my own darling husband... I know the odds are .5 out of 100

Hi T.,
My husband's doctor suggested he be tested once a year for the first coouple of years just to be sure. My neighbor had her tubes tied and got pg, so her husband had a vasectomy and she got pg again. So, they each had another procedure. I'd take a pregnancy test if I were in your position. It can happen.
Good luck!
I just saw my DR about bc stuff and he was telling me about Mirena (the ring) and told me that it was more effective than the Pill and even a vasectomy! (Apparently Mirena is 99.9%) Anyway, he basically told me that sometimes the "tubes" can grow back after a vasectomy. So I guess it is possible! (My DH and I have been thinking about that as well so I hope its a pretty effective surgery!)
I had a friend who got pregnant after her husband had a vasectomy because the doctor said "it grew back." Usually the men have to go to the doctor for up to a year to get checked, not just once. His doctor said he had over 10 grow back the year my friend's did, so he has changed what procedure he uses. So, it would be a good idea even if you're not pregnant now, to have your husband get re-checked.
My friend was very hard on his wife about the baby not being his, which of course it is. His entire family still treats the baby differently than the other kids. Please do not let this happen to you! It is devastating! Good luck and if you are pregnant, remember everything happens for a reason!
HI T.,
Yes, you could definitely be pregnant. The doctor only asked for one sample? We're military and 3 of the guys in the unit went together (for moral support) and had vasectomies. They were required to give 3 samples. One of them kept testing fertile for almost 6 months - they thought they were going to have to do it again! Both of you need to go to the doctor immediately. Wishing youthe best! L.
All kinds of things can cause menstrual cycle interruptions, and sometimes at the same time of year each year. If you've had any major life change (move, job change, vacation, serious sickness or death in the family, financial stress, etc) that could throw you off.
If you're not feeling tired/sleepy, peeing more often than usual, or having other early pregnancy symptoms, though, you're probably not pregnant. I hope not (since you don't want to be); but if you are, I hope it turns out to be a true 'bundle of joy' for your family.
I hope all is well!
My best friend's youngest brother is a post vasectomy baby. Her mom got pregnant quite a while after the vasectomy and her dad had the test and was told he was sterle, so yes, it is possible. However, there are several things that can cause you to be late so I wouldn't get too upset, but it is very important to get checked out. Good luck!
My husband had a vasectomy almost 9 yrs ago, I have not had a period since the end of August, 1st week of September, I took a hpt and it was negitive, but I have all the symptoms, swollen breasts, bloating, fatigue, headaches.. I am going to retest Monday since the few times I did were in the evening.. We lost our son in 2007 to an accidental shooting by his friend, and I would love to have another baby, if infact I am pregnant I will say its a gift God sent to me.. especially after all these years of not conceiving.
.
Highly unlikely, but anything is possible. I'd take a preg test ASAP.
honestly, i know someone hows husband had that and she had a tubel. they have a daughter now . after these surgeries. good luck. mom of 7. R.
It is absolutely possible. A friend of mine is due in November and her husband had surgery 4 years ago. She has 2 daughters and in her mind her family was complete, apparently the Lord had different plans. It could be nothing but it is definitely worth checking it out.
Blessings,
:)
IF you are, I would say you were meant to be! God put a hand in there, and there is no stopping His will. Good luck and God Bless.
It IS possible because there are different ways of doing the vasectomy. Depending on how it was done, the vas deferens COULD grow back together. Just like with women's tubal ligation, the doctor can cut, tie/clamp, or burn the tubes to sterilize the man. My boyfriend was cut AND burned to be sure, and even though his vasectomy was several years ago, I continue to take my birth control pills just as an added layer of prevention.
To be sure, you should pick up a pregnancy test from a local drugstore and take a test. Worrying about why you are late could also be causing stress which can throw off your period. Also, strenuous exercise, change in diet, other stress can also throw your period off schedule.
