I am having an outdoor barbecue birthday party for my daughter who will be turning 14! The theme is a little different its a little mismatched ( describes her taste and personality) besides the bbq we are having dancing, some corny games with prizes and candy bar and a John Cena pinata. My question is I want a unique but beautiful simple centerpieces made of candy and fresh flowers. Any ideas? There are going to be adults as well as tweens and kids approx 80 people I need to make 6-8 centerpieces. They will be on a 6ft square table.,

What can I do next?

You can nest two sizes of cylinder vases inside each other. Put candy between the two vases, water inside the smaller one. Flowers get water, candy stays dry! On each table you could do a couple of different shapes- a taller vase filled with jelly beans and a few stems of bright gerbera daisies, a lower cylinder or bubble bowl with hard candy and a few bright lilies, a square vase with nerds and a few roses cut short to the vase. I would do 3 gerbs, 1-3 lilies, 1-4 roses on each table, depending on the size of the vase. Don't bother with greenery. To add a cute candy touch to the flowers you could wrap a spiral of bright aluminum florist's wire up the stem of the gerbs in hot pink or a similar color. You can find a lot of basic vases at the dollar store and the wire you can find at your local florist or a craft shop like Michael's.

Get hurricane candle holders ... get the green floral foam, stick flowers in them - BRIGHT colors, wrap in baggie, add water, tape off at top, place in hurricane holder, then pour candies around - Lemonheads, Jelly Beans, Red Hots, Mike & Ikes etc what ever you can get for cheap that is brightly colored that can look like rocks. In the middle or two thirds up the hurricane tie a brightly colored ribbon around, make a bow and poof you are done! Make a few of these for each table, use boxes covered in cloth for height differences and dimension.

here is a visual aide ... but I am thinking taller!

I agree about using the suckers....maybe the tall spiral ones?

You could even line the inside of clear vases with colored licorice then put the flowers in?

Sounds too cute!

~I say just go to the local candy shoppe (we have a big one in our mall) and see what catches your eye!

How about large lollipops (the big all day suckers) with flowers around them.

I would use fresh flowers and lollipops or blow pops.

You could use jelly jars with pretty ribbons tied around them.. for the containers. Use pink roses, Bright colored Gerber daisies , mixed waxy looking greenery, like lemon leaves, and small yellow flowers.. Then stick the stems of the lollies in between the flowers..

Or do 2 small containers of the bright lollipops next to each of the jars of fresh flowers.

JUST candy?

Because 'snowballs' (the cake kinda things covered in coconut) on long skewers would be great for some. Like big puffball dandylions

Ditto truffles on sticks

Huge lollipops
